The Definition Of Life

Life is something special; nothing you want to take for granted.

The Definition Of Life
Jessica Lafleur

Just take a second to think about the word "life." What does that word mean to you? It is something so fragile. No matter your situation in life, it is always something you cannot take for granted. People never realize how great of a life they have until it's too late. Until you lose something that you never thought impacted you so much.

"We can't help everyone, but everyone can help someone." - Ronald Reagan

Family. Regardless of the state of your relationship with your mother and father or brother and sister, they’re always there to pick you up at tough times. They may not be a phone call away or able to be visited, but they are always looking over your shoulder. You may think at one point that you are at your lowest, but keeping your family close, things will slowly get better. No matter who you may call family, this is where you can find the strongest relationship bond. They love you with everything they have and they will never give up or let go of you.

Here’s a word of advice. No matter how old you are, you always rely on your family to be by your side. Since the day you were born, the people that were around basically made a promise to your parents. To never give up on you and to always love you. You might have had some of these people taken too quickly from this wonderful world, but that means very little. Because no matter where life takes you, whether it’s on your side or not, you always have people looking out for you and protecting you. Since the day you took your first breath, your family has been trying to do whatever they think is best. All they want is the best for you. It might be a process at times, but they’re trying. Where would you be without the constant support of your family?

Friends. They’ll always have your back and stand by you through everything. They see you struggling at your worst and smiling at your best. Now what would you do without them? Where would you be?

"To strengthen the muscles of your heart, the best exercise is lifting someone else's spirit whenever you can." - Dodinsky

Life throws some crazy curveballs and often seems unfair. From celebrations to tragedies, everything truly happens for a reason. It makes each and everyone of us who we are today. As you go about your everyday life, never stop striving to make the ones you love happy and proud.

Sit back and think for a moment. Who impacts, or has impacted, your life? Appreciate them. Not everyone has people in their life like you do. We're all different and have different views on life and vary in the support we have around. Remember all the good memories. Remember the person you constantly spill your heart out to. Remember the days you called the best of your life and remember the worst. This is what shaped you to who you are today. Your strength, courage and happiness. All of the things that shaped you is what makes life so precious. Never take anything or anyone for granted. Things could change in the blink of an eye, so never take the chance. Love life every second and the cliché saying “live like its your last.”

Now, I need everybody to go to a loved one or just someone that has impacted you and thank them for everything. Hug them, kiss them, love them and lastly cherish them. Even if it's not much. Life is too short. Because in reality, where would you be without the people in your life?

"You are not here merely to make a living. You are here in order to enable the world to live more amply, with greater vision, with a finer spirit of hope and achievement. You are here to enrich the world, and impoverish yourself if you forget the errand." - Woodrow Wilson

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
