Why I am always "going to service!".

The Definition of Bonner

1) Bonner means service. It means forming bonds with community partners. It means using our skills to support the growth of nonprofit organizations.

2) Bonner means advocacy. It means strengthening weakened voices. It means standing up for social justice, regardless of time or place.

3) Bonner means sustainable change. It means serving long-term with nonprofit organizations to build trust and rapport. It means developing programs and impacting lives in a way that will benefit communities for years to come.

4) Bonner means leadership. It means taking initiative and speaking your mind. It means standing for what is right, even if you are standing alone.

5) Bonner means development. It means fostering yourself, both personally and professionally. It means serving to grow the communities that surround our school.

6) Bonner means solidarity. It means overcoming differences to find common ground. It means serving with, not above.

7) Bonner means diversity. It means serving alongside people from a variety of backgrounds. It means addressing a broad span of social issues in a multitude ways.

8) Bonner means global immersion. It means challenging yourself to see beyond your locale. It means acquiring a deeper appreciation for the privileges we take for granted.

9) Bonner means community. It means forming an on-campus team united under one goal. It means integrating with underdeveloped regions to build a stronger locality.

10) Bonner means family. It means college becomes home. It means b-love, no matter what.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
