To the college friend that became family:
I'm not good with doing things that are out of my comfort zone, which includes getting close to new people. I don't remember exactly how you became such a fixture in my life, but I am so glad that college gave me you. It's hard for me to open up to new people, and all of my best friends went to different colleges. I didn't think I'd find someone who would become my family away from home.
You're the type of friend that texts me late at night telling me to come over for pumpkin muffins because you know I've had a bad day. You're the type of friend that lets me cry on your shoulders during recruitment. You also say I love you more than anyone I know, but it's nice that you're not afraid to be open. You make me laugh more than anyone I know. I love how we bond over music and are constantly showing each other new songs. Thanks for belting out "Ultralight Beam" with me every time we're in the car. Thank you for always being open to talk about God and religion. Thank you for never going a day without seeing me and always being down to be lazy at your house. Your lively personality makes me feel lighter, and you can turn any bad way around. Most importantly, I'm not afraid to be myself when I'm with you. I think of one thing when I think of you: the sun. You bring so much warmth and laughter in my life, and I know you can make anyone smile. Thank you for being the amazing person that you are, never change.
It's important to surround yourself with people who make you smile and are always uplifting you. I'm glad I found my person away from home.
