To the Broken, Beaten, and the Ones Who Made You That Way

You showed me the strength I never had inside of me

In your life, you're destined to run into a few stumbling blocks. And by a few, I mean a lot. Some, more than others. But that doesn't mean you should let them get in your way. Even if you stumble, don't quit. Most of these obstacles will be people.

I wish I could tell you these people aren't important, but that's simply not true. In fact, I've recently realized that some of these people are the most important in shaping who we are.

This is a message to you people,
The people who put us down.
Who kick us when we're down, begging for help just to get a laugh. Guys, girls, young and old, popular and not, white, black, anything in between. It doesn't matter.

This one is to the people who don't care what you think, who you are, or what your name even is. You've always been wrong.

People like myself have a fire so bright inside of our hearts that your trash talking us, and trying to snuff out the fire we hold, won't phase us.

You spent all this time trying to tear us down with name-calling, for some of us, our bullies even literally hit or kicked us. But you only made us stronger.
You see, as with a campfire, when you add a big log to this kind of flame you're only giving us more and more to build off of, to better ourselves; and to make sure we make a lasting impact on our world, and the people in it, that you'll never get to make.

So go on, keep putting us down.

You see, from a young age, we're shaped by the very events that happen to us on a day to day basis. When we fall down seven times, we will rise again eight. And on that eighth time, nothing can stop us.

To you, the one who put us down.

Some of us have been through hell that you can't even imagine. Not only fighting our inner demons but our outer ones in addition. We've faced all of our demons, whether we did it courageously or not. We had to because they would never have left us alone otherwise.

To you, the dreamer.

Keep chasing that end goal. You may not be good enough for everyone but you gave to be good enough for yourself. We are on earth to enjoy it, live it for all its worth, and for us to truly enjoy our beautiful world (though it may not always seem it) we have to not let a few people's opinions stop our lives.

So again to you; the ones who tear us down.

There is something special about the tortured soul. The one who has come through so much and still is on top. The person who won't say die is always a favorite. Keep dancing in the rain when they tell you, you will be struck by lightning. Keep loving, living, laughing, and being who you want to be. You are the master of your own fate. You only have one life, and it's up to you to use it in the best way possible.

Forgive, but don't forget. Your time to be put down will pass, and you will move on and be happy. You just have to fight for it. But when that's done, you have to help others.

We're here as examples, as a shining light into a dark world. Love endlessly, and live fully.

Be the best person you can be, and inspire others to do the same.

You'll never know what kind of a positive influence you can be until you try to be one.

To the person who puts us down, thank you, because we get up stronger than we were before.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
