The Bittersweet Moment Of Moving Out Of Your First Apartment

Moving into your first apartment is something I’m sure everyone dreamt about when living in the dorms during your freshman year of college. You think about how you are going to decorate your private space, what colors the room is going to be, what theme to follow (if any), what will be hung up on the wall, and so on.

As fun as it is to move in and decorate, moving out is a completely different feeling. Think about it; you have been living in you first apartment, by yourself, for a whole school year. Do you realize how many memories have been made here? I mean, how different was it from the dorms? How much better it was to have your own space and privacy?

I did not until I saw my empty room and had a flashback to move in day. It is weird to think about how many months ago it was when I was moving into this apartment. Time just flew by. If you would have told me that on a year from move in day I would be moving out and going back home for summer, I would have told you that you were crazy. Once my apartment was all set up and I was moved in, I did not want to be anywhere else. I thought that the day I had to move out would never come, but it came much faster than I anticipated.

Between having all my sisters in my sorority over prior to date dashes, watching football games in the living room with friends, baking some kind of dessert in the kitchen every weekend, hanging out with my boyfriend no matter what time of the day it was, having more than one roommate and coming back after a long day of classes and crashing, one can say that I have made memories in that apartment that will never be forgotten.

My first apartment was the apartment where I met my amazing boyfriend, who helped me not only move out and into another unit, but gave me all the amazing memories that we have shared. Lying on the bare mattress with him and talking about all the memories that have been made here, with none of my belongings anywhere in the room, really made me look back at the past year and realize how much of a better person I have become. That apartment taught me many lessons that I will carry on to my new apartment.

Moving out of my first apartment was a bittersweet moment, but my boyfriend helping and staying by my side made me that much more excited to move out and find out what the future has in store for me.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
