I have been blessed with two of the most loving and selfless individuals known to man, and I have the privilege to call them granny and pawpaw. There really aren't any words to describe how grateful I am for these two people to be in my life, but I figured I could give it a try.

My grandparents are pretty much my best friends. They are there for me no matter what; from coming to watch me at softball games or even driving an hour and a half to come pick me from school. I know that I can always count on them to support me.

Growing up my grandparents' house was only 10 minutes away from mine which meant we spent a lot of time together. They were either over at my house or I was over at their house; either way most of my childhood was spent with them.

Even now that I'm 18 years old, I still hang out with them. Most people my age are out on Friday and Saturday nights. Me on the other hand, I am usually sitting on my grandparents couch watching whatever my pawpaw can find. Even when me and my boyfriend are hanging out, we like to spend time with my grandparents.

My grandparents are the two most caring people I know and I aspire to be like them every day. My granny is a softhearted person who loves and sees the good almost everybody. My pawpaw is a very funny man even though half the time he doesn't even mean to be funny. He is also a very compassionate person who loves and would do almost anything for his family.

I constantly realize how fortunate I am to have spent my life with my grandparents so close to me. I know that so many of my friends don't get to have the kind of relationship that I do with their own grandparents. I honestly don't know what I would do if I didn't have my grandparents. Even when I am away at school I call my granny every night and text my pawpaw everyday. I couldn't imagine where I would be without the two of them, and they really have shaped me into the woman that I am today.

Even though I may be far away at school sometimes, I know that I'll always have a second home in my grandparents house. I love my grandparents with all I've got, and I am so thankful for them and so blessed to have them in my life.
