The change in season can bring a mix of emotions and actions all in a scramble. Sometimes the change in season is a good thing for some, and for others, not so much. Personally, when it changes from fall to winter I get a little bit colder, and I don’t just mean temperature wise. But one of the best season changes, perhaps, is when it transcends from winter to spring. Spring means more sunshine and less snow, usually. But not only does the days get longer and nicer, it means summer is right around the corner. Here are some of my favorite things to do when the seasons are changing.
1. Go on a shopping spree.
I am so, so guilty of doing this every time the season changes. I mean why not? We work to have money and though we should try and save most of it, we all deserve to spend some of it. Buying new clothes for the upcoming season is the best feeling. A new sweater or a new pair of shorts and shoes can really make a difference. Spice up your wardrobe a little bit each time the seasons change. You will slowly be growing your closet one season at a time, and what is better than that?
2. Change your hairstyle.
This does not have to be super drastic, but it is a lot more fun if it is. Chop your hair off, get extensions or change the color; it is a renewing type of feeling. For me, my hair color and length is always changing. For from the cooler seasons to the warmer seasons, my hair color follows. Or get the tips of your hair in that really cool color you have been eyeing on Pinterest for a long time. Who cares? Just do it, you won’t regret it. And besides, it’s just hair, right?
3. Rearrange your room.
Now I bet you are wondering how this can be beneficial for the season change, but a little bit of change in the Feng Shui or your room can make you feel better. I do this all of the time to my room at home, even without a season change. Coming home to a different set up make your life feel less uniform. Slight changes like the way your bed is facing or where your dresser resides can make the room feel different and new. And while you’re at it, might as well paint the walls and change your bedding. I always do this when I want something new. It makes things exciting and fresh for how you are feeling in this moment of time. Just get permission first, of course.
4. Pick up a new hobby.
This can be done at any time in the year, but it makes it more interesting to do when the season changes because there is always something different to do. In winter, you could pick up a hobby such as knitting or crocheting. Spring is great for gardening and fall is good for painting. Now summer there is a surplus amount of hobbies to choose from. Kayaking, swimming, biking, running, you name it, it can probably be done in the summer. The weather greatly affects the things we do and the actions we follow. Change it up a bit, who knows, you could make a lot of money off of some hand knitted scarves. Get creative.
5. Take a trip.
You do not need to break the bank here, this is a very open-ended suggestion. If you want to save up and take a nice trip somewhere, go for it. But if you're balling on a budget like most of us, day trips are nice too. All of the seasons have great things about them that can be turned into activities and trips. Take a nice vacation if you can in the season or two of your choosing, but do it wisely. Day trips might be the better options because there is not limit to the number of day trips you can do. Also, each day trip brings something new and exciting to do. Winter is great for skiing or tubing and enjoying the snow while we have it. Spring is awesome for going to trips like the zoo, aquarium or my mom's favorite, the Boston's Arnold Arboretum. Summer brings endless day trips to the shores of any states your willing to drive too. Also, amusement parks are great this time of year. Fall is one of the most beautifully changing seasons, so it needs to be taken advantage of. Take a drive or a hike through trails and see the fall foliage and fill up your lungs with the brisk air of fall.
6. Change the little things.
Sometimes this can be the easiest or hardest thing to do. As humans, we are just so used to order and organization within the structure of our lives because it is what makes us feel we are doing something right. Change the mascara you use, or the deodorant and body spray or perfume you always buy. The point is, try new things. Get out of the everyday routine you always do. Sleep more or sleep less, just do something. The smallest changes in our routines and life can make a huge difference, more than you may think. So what can it hurt to change something so small? There is no loss here, because if you don’t like the small miscellaneous item you changed, you can always return to your own personal status quo.
