The Best Type Of Pokemon

Pokemon! The anime and game series that have managed to capture the hearts of millions worldwide since 1995, including yours truly. Well, to be honest, this media franchise did not pique my interest until 2004. It was a sunny Friday, okay, never mind. The nostalgia aside, Pokemon is adored by many, from the Generation I games of "Red" and "Blue" to the trading card game to, of course, "Pokemon Go," the latest fad to take the world by storm.

The National Pokedex, which includes Pokemon from the Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, Sinnoh, Unova and Kalos regions thus far, includes a total of 721 pokemon. From your classic starters of Bulbasaur, Charmander and Squirtle to the fierce, legendary titans such as, but not limited to, Mewtwo, Ho-oh and Lugia, there are 18 different single types and a multitude of dual-types throughout the Pokemon world. However, there is one type of Pokemon that is simply the best, and that is the dragon type.

Mythical creatures and being the hardest to find, especially in the video game series, dragon Pokemon are one of the most, if not the most, powerful ones to exist. Dragon types excel in all areas: Attack, Defense, Special Attack, Special Defense and Speed. However, fully evolved dragon types have some of the highest offensive statistics on average compared to other types. Moreover, they have incredible resistance to all of the starter types: Grass, Fire, Water and Electric (if you include Pikachu). While ghost, dark, steel, psychic, fighting, poison, bug, normal, rock, ground and flying are adequate in dealing with the dragon type, there are only three known types that are super-effective: ice, fairy and dragon. Even then, dragon type Pokemon can hold their own against their weaknesses due to their excellence on all fronts.

Having such a diverse skill set is pivotal for any Pokemon in battle, especially when at a type disadvantage or dealing with tenacious defensive prowess (such as Shuckle, Umbreon and Bastiodon). That being said, dragon type Pokemon are able to learn a plethora of moves aside from its own type-fire, fighting, rock, ground and flying, just to name a few. Hidden machines such as Strength, Fly and Rock Smash are powered up even greater, and since they cannot be easily forgotten, having excellent offensive stats definitely come in handy with the dragon type. And lastly, I think they're the coolest.

My favorite pre-evolved dragon types, which are adorable as they are strong, are Gible, Bagon, Noibat, Axew and Tyrunt. Out of the fully-evolved dragon type Pokemon available from Kanto to Kalos, my favorite ones are Salamence, Dragonite, Dragalge, Haxorus, Garchomp and Hydreigon. Next, my favorite legendary dragon type Pokemon are Dialga, Palkia, Kyurem, Zygarde and Raquaza.

In Pokemon, whether it's the anime, video games, Go, so on and so forth, everyone is entitled to their favorite type of Pokemon. This article is highly subjective, and simply explains my love for the dragon types. My hope for the future is this: Niantic/Nintendo adds Pokemon from other regions so I may start capturing and raising dragon type Pokemon so I can be a full fledged dragon master. Dragonite is pretty awesome, but having only one evolutionary line of dragons simply won't do.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
