The turkey has all been eaten and the relatives have all headed for home. You know what that means! It’s time to start thinking about Christmas! So deck the halls; it’s time to celebrate! In honor of this occasion, here are my 10 favorite things about the holiday season.

10. Music

Okay, I might have started this before Thanksgiving ended, but it is still one of my favorites. There’s nothing better to get you in a good mood and ready for the holiday than listening (and singing) to the timeless classics as well as some newer incarnations as well.

9. Gifts and Giving

I love to see the look on my little brother’s face when he opens something or when one of my friends gets something they really wanted and are ecstatic about it.

It is always great to see others happy and to receive some cool things for yourself.

8. Movies

You can’t forget the movies. Funny, heartwarming, and family friendly movies can make the season.

7. Sweets

Sugar cookies, candy canes, chocolates, pies, and so much more to even mention! Yum!

6. Christmas Dinner

More food! Delicious ham or turkey, mashed potatoes, green beans, rolls…and all the good stuff.

5. Decorations

Outside lights, wreaths, and lights all around the living room help the house feel cozy and welcoming, while also creating an atmosphere of Christmas all around.

4. Cheer

Personally, I love this season because it has a different feeling about it than the rest of the year. It might be colder outdoors, but inside, the feeling inside is so much warmer (figuratively and literally).

3. The Christmas Tree

O’ Christmas Tree! O’ Christmas Tree! My favorite decoration of all time!

2. Family

Spending time with family is the best part of Christmas. Although we may sometimes disagree and get on each other’s nerves, coming together for Christmas is always a highlight.

1. Christ

He is the real reason for the season. We are ultimately celebrating the birth of Jesus and God’s providence, despite the fact that some wish to ignore this essential portion.

Merry Christmas and God Bless!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
