Let’s be real. Netflix is amazing. It’s one of the greatest things to help avoid homework. Thankfully, this year, Netflix is releasing some new seasons of their own shows as well as some new shows to be on the lookout for:
1. Daredevil
What it’s about: A lawyer, blinded at age 9, uses his enhanced powers to fight against crime bosses and other evils in his borough of Hell’s Kitchen, New York.
I know, I know. This is probably the show that your boyfriend is trying to get you to watch. Or if you are as big of a nerd as I am, it’s something to watch as we get closer and closer to the premiere of Infinity Wars and Civil War. So far there is one season out on Netflix and the second is slated to premiere on March 18th and features new villains such as The Punisher.
Why watch it? Maybe your boyfriend is going to make you watch it but at least, it features strong female characters and quite a few attractive actors
2. Fuller House
What it’s about: A continuation of the original Full House show from the late 80’s early 90’s. Currently, the only thing for the show is a few trailers, but the hype alone is enough to make you schedule this on your list.
Why watch it? Come on. It’s the original Full House cast, grown up and back in the original house. The only way this won’t be good is if they just disregard the whole family being crazy but great.
3. A Series of Unfortunate Events
What it’s about: Do you remember the books that had the same title? The ones about the 3 kids who lost their parents in a fire and then the crappy movie came out and essentially botched the entire book series? Yeah, this is the (hopefully) better version of the book series.
Why watch it? These books were a highlight of a lot of people’s childhoods and it’ll be interesting to see how the show plays out.
4. Orange is the New Black
What it’s about: A women’s prison in rural New York. If you don’t know what this show is about then I’m probably just going to assume that you’ve been living under a rock the past few years.
Why watch it? The last season left off on a really bad cliffhanger and it left fans begging for more. Finally, just Ruby Rose and Laura Pepron.
5. Making a Murderer
What it’s about: A man was falsely accused of rape and served 18 years in prison. When he was released, he was then accused of murder.
Why watch it? The show has only been around for a short while but so many people are raving about it. Plus there are only 10 episodes
6. Jessica Jones
What it’s about: A former superhero quits working as a superhero and picks up a job as a Private Investigator until a former lover and villain show back up in her life. The second season isn’t given a release date yet but it should come out later this year.
Why watch it? This is another Marvel show, I know. But it has an amazing cast of completely boss women and features subjects such as PTSD as well as a few touchier subjects so discretion is advised.
Let the binge watching begin!
