Dear Mom,

Sometimes I forget to tell you thank you for all you do and why I love you so much, so here is an attempt to sum up how wonderful you are.

Thanks for always being there at the practices, games, open houses, ceremonies, birthday parties, moving in and moving out, hospital visits, all the first and all the lasts. For getting up early to wake me up and staying up past your bed time to make sure I’m where I need to be. For packing all the lunches, remembering where my shoes are, and reminding me to take my jacket or sunscreen even when I think I won’t need it. For doing PTA, working the concession stand and helping me sell the most cards so I can get the prize. For taking pictures at everything, even when I tell you no. For planning all the vacations and making sure we have a fun time. For remembering all the little things I forget.

Thanks for supporting me through all the ups and downs. For allowing me to live my dreams even when they mean moving far away. For letting me make mistakes, but always being there to help me move past them. For pushing me to be a better person on the inside and out. For raising me to be a good person who loves God and my family. For showing me what a happy marriage looks like and how to treat the ones you love. You are my role model, you’re the strongest person I know. You’ve taught me to be an independent women and to work hard for what I want. You continue to prove me that you can be an amazing mother and have a full time job that you love. I hope that someday I can be half of good as person you are.

Most of all, thanks for being my best friend. For listening to me on the phone, whether I’m laughing, crying or yelling, you always know the right thing to say. For giving me advice whether I think I need it or not because mothers do know best. For singing and dancing in the kitchen while we make dinner. For talking to me while we work out at the gym or walk the dogs. For going shopping with me and being honest about how I look. For letting me borrow your clothes or buying me that dress even though I don’t need it. For helping me decorate my apartment and leaving me cute notes to read later. For hanging out with all my friends and making them like you more than me. For going on girl trips, where we have too much fun eating and meeting new people. You are the one person I know I can come to for anything and I’m blessed to have you in my life.

You are everything a mother is supposed to be and more. I hope you know how much I appreciate you and everything you do. Love you!!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
