I love history, and I love TV. Right now, there are some pretty popular TV shows with differing time periods. If the setting of the show is between the 1400's and the 1980's, you can pretty much count me in. Yes, I know. That is a huge range of time, but the shows are just so good. So I'll list my favorites, along with some other popular ones.
1. "The Tudors"
I haven't watched this show, but family and friends have. I've heard fantastic reviews, and it's on my list to watch right behind "Friends."
2. "Reign"
This show is fantastic! While there is a ton of history involved, the CW has added some supernatural happenings to the show that I believe make it even better. The drama and murder-filled life of Mary and Francis in the French court is addicting.
3. "Outlander"
This is one of my absolute favorite shows. The books and the show are amazing, and I cannot wait until season two premieres next spring. Plus, Jamie Fraser makes the show that much better.
4. "Downton Abbey"
"Downton Abbey" has lessened in popularity, but it is still a drama-filled show. Maggie Smith has some of the best lines a writer could script, and being able to see the lives of the rich and their servants is addicting.
5. "The Astronaut Wives Club"
I haven't watched this, but have heard excellent reviews for one of this summer's hit shows. Hopefully it gets renewed for a second season.
6. "Wicked City"
This hasn't premiered yet, but I am so excited! Chuck Bass makes a return? And he's a murderer? This is a must watch.
