The Best Friend That Never Leaves You

Reasons why having a sister is the best thing in the world

The Best Friend That Never Leaves You

Growing up my sister and I fought a lot. We fought about who gets to wear the shirt that we both coincidently wanted to wear on the same day. Who gets to sit in the front seat. Who gets to pick what show we watch. Sometimes we would just fight about nothing. When she was bothering me I would start yelling at her and then World War III would break out. Now that we are both older, we haven't fought like that in a while (except when it comes who gets the phone upgrade...when I clearly am supposed to get it). There are so many reasons why I love having a sister.

1. They're always honest

No one is as honest as a sister. They aren't afraid to tell you if the outfit you're wearing looks horrible, or that you look like a hot mess. I ask my sister's advice for everything. Whether I'm buying clothes, trying on outfits, what color to get on my nails, etc, and I know she will give the most honest answer. We aren't afraid to be honest with each other because we know that no matter what we say to each other, we won't get mad.

2. You always have someone to talk to

No matter what time of the day, problem I have, or embarrassing moment I have, I know I can always tell my sister. Even when I'm bored and just want someone to talk to, I know I can always call her. We talk about the most random stuff possible and we could go on for hours..well I could but she hangs up on me or ends the FaceTime once she gets bored with me.

3. They go through the same things as you

Whether it's family drama, friend issues, or whatever it might be, your sister goes through the same things you do. When it comes to family, we go through the same things. Whether it be annoying parents, a family holiday party, they're there with you for it all. We can talk about all this stuff with each other because we go through it together. This is different than talking about it with a friend because your sister was there with you.

4. They're always down for a good time

Bored at a family event? My sister and I always find some way to make it fun. We always look how to make something entertaining for us. We also love to go on random adventures. Whether it's hiking, baking, going to the movies, working out, or even just hanging out and talking, we are always down to have good time with each other. I know that when we're together, we can never be bored.

5. You have a best friend that can never leave you

Having a sister is the best thing. They see you at your worst, best, and everything in between. They've grown up watching you, knowing all your likes, dislikes, favorite things to do, to eat, etc. No one knows you as well as your sister. Even when you hate each other, you love each other. No matter what you do to each other, such as fighting and screaming at the top of your lungs, you know that they'll always be there for you.

Having a sister is the best thing. I couldn't imagine my life without Carly and all the crazy stuff she does. Even though she annoys me sometimes (a lot of the time) I wouldn't trade it for the world.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
