Hollywood A-listers flocked from near and far to attend Hollywood's most glamorous event Sunday night: The Academy Awards. Known for its prestige and serious aesthetic, only the best in the business got to attend the historical (does the "Moonlight" and "La La Land" flub ring a bell?) event that honored the best films of the year. While the event itself is incredibly important to the Hollywood community and millions of viewers worldwide, the red carpet prior to the awards show is important to fashion lovers like me. The Academy Awards red carpet is the most glamorous red carpet of the year. Celebrities break out the most intricate, beautiful, embellished gowns, tuxedos, and accessories the fashion industry has to offer, donning designers like Marchesa, Valentino, Oscar de la Renta, and Gucci. On Sunday night, a number of celebrities either hit or missed it with their choice of attire. Here are my favorite and least-favorite looks from the Academy Awards.
Best-Dressed Looks From the Academy Awards Red Carpet:
1. Hailee Steinfeld
Despite the fact that Hailee Steinfeld's name ended up on a lot of the worst-dressed lists, I thought she was one of the best-dressed of the night, if not the best-dressed. Wearing a sheer, floral, embellished gown by Ralph & Russo, Steinfeld took a risk wearing this gown, but it paid off because she looked absolutely stunning on the red carpet. Keeping it simple with an updo and a smoky eye, Steinfeld's dress owned the night.
2. Emma Stone
3. Janelle Monae
4. Octavia Spencer
5. Jessica Biel
6. Brie Larson
Worst-Dressed Looks From the Academy Awards red-carpet:
1. Dakota Johnson
And the award for worst-dressed of the night goes to...Dakota Johnson! Donning a satin Gucci gown, Johnson shined for all the wrong reasons. The only question I have is...why? Why would she choose such a hideous gown and why would a prominent, successful designer like Gucci design such an ugly gown? Johnson, you might want a new stylist, and if you don't have one, you might want to get one!
2. Charlize Theron
3. Ruth Negga
4. Felicity Jones
5. Michelle Williams
Another awards show here and gown. As we say goodbye to the Academy Awards, we also say goodbye to some of the most hideous gowns celebrities wore at Sunday's event. It's no doubt the night was one to remember; from candy falling from the ceiling to Jimmy Kimmel's jabs at Donald Trump, as well as his hilarious "feud" with Matt Damon, the picture below resembles everything the night truly was. Until next year, Oscars.
