Sorority recruitment, it is here again! As the title of this article states, it is definitely the best and worst week of the whole school year. An incredible amount of resources such as effort, time and money go into recruiting new women. We want to show you why joining the Panhellenic community is the best, but doing so through formal recruitment is exciting and exhausting.
1. You are exhausted beyond the aid of coffee or any other form of caffeine.
You can have as many coffees as you want, but you'll still be yawning before the rounds are half over. RedBull? I can promise nothing will help. Just accept your exhaustion.
2. You bond with your sisters before and after each round through the rush of adrenaline that results in rushed conversations and ridiculous dancing.
Absolutely expect to do anything with a sister you wouldn't expect to dance alongside. This burst of energy will probably fuel you through the next round. You can try to have conversations but there's hardly any time to even breathe before the next group of girls come in.
3. Your rush crush doesn't join your sorority.
Possibly the most heartbreaking issue of all. You fall in love with her during the first day but you either don't see her by the last day or worse, you watch her run home to NOT you.
4. The feeling you get on Bid Day is completely worth any and all of the rough times of the past week.
You may cry, or get goosebumps when you see your new sisters run home. Either way, it's the most exciting part of the year. Everyone is happy and excited more than anything.
5. Your day starts early and ends late so there is no time for homework or even eating, quite honestly.
Going off of that, you have an excuse to not do your homework, go to class, or eat healthy. School can suck most of the time, anyway.
6. Your face hurts from smiling so much and you run out of things to talk about during rounds. You want to take off your heels and put on yoga pants.
Comfort doesn't exist during recruitment. And you probably wonder how many more girls can you possibly ask the question, "What is your major?" The limit does not exist.
7. Bid day = a new little, grand little, or great-grand little!
Who doesn't love the add to their family?! A new sister means crafting, coffee dates and someone to bond with in general. Your chapter is growing and so is your social life.
Whether you're a recruiter or a woman going through recruitment, the process is equally exciting and exhausting. Either way, by the end of it, the whole week will be worth it.There is certainly no feeling like it and let me tell you why, in both a positive and negative light from the eyes of a recruiter.
