The University of Delaware has perfected the art of the day drink, also known as daging. Everyone wakes up early on Saturday to start their weekend right. There's no better way to spend your Saturday afternoon than at one of these beautifully crafted frat backyards. So here's how it goes, as told by "Friends."
1. Waking up on Saturday morning.
Today is the day, move it or lose it.
2. When one of your friends doesn't want to go out.
On the rare occurrence that this actually happens, this is usually how it goes.
3. Getting dressed.
Whether you go for the basic looks or want to try and spice it up, a good dage outfit is essential. Everywhere is a new photo op so be ready.
Meanwhile, your friends who have already been ready sit there like:
4. The pregame.
Whether it be huge or just a small one in your friends apartment, this step is probably the most important. Go have some fun and let's get this Saturday started.
5. Getting to the first party.
No matter where you start, you will most likely be meeting more friends you'll never remember. You are now experiencing a frat in broad daylight so maybe you should "get to know" some people.
6. The line for the keg.
This is a dog-eat-dog world. Get aggressive.
7. Compliments.
You don't want to overstay your welcome, so you decide to head off to the next party. Everyone is out and about walking around. You pass some girls and they shower you in compliments. Drunk girls are the sweetest.
You just keep walking, but low key love the compliment.
8. Finding a frat dog/cat.
This is God's gift to us all. Many frats have animals and if you don't mow people down to pet it, I judge you.
9. The music.
There's a very different playlist for dages. They're full of throwbacks and country. This is usually how people react when their favorite throwback hit from middle school finally comes on.
10. Food.
Getting food after the day's adventures is most commonly found on Main Street. Everyone goes and takes their pick on which small restaurant they'd like to wreak havoc in this week. It gets intense.
11. End of the day.
The day is coming to a close and as you walk back to wherever your bed is, you reminisce on the day and congratulate everyone on a job well done.
12. Post-dage nap.
We live for this. You get home and pass out in your bed to be rejuvenated for later. Waking up from the nap isn't as fun as falling asleep for it. You usually wake up very lost and confused.
Well it's almost Sunday and we all have to be actual students again. Dages are an art and they must be done right. If you need any help or get lost along the way, I'll be there for you because you'll be there for me, too (hopefully).
