Pennsburg is a small town in the suburbs of Philadelphia and if you're not careful enough, you'll drive right through it and you won't even notice. But there are people here who have been here for longer than I can remember. Faces that make up this area that smile at you and are more than willing to show you around this place that we call home. This place that makes you use a bigger landmark like Quakertown or Pottstown to help place where you come from. The place that I call home.
Appetizing.
Looking for a bite to eat? Why not try one of the 7 Pizza Shops or 4 Chinese Restaurants around? If not, then Quakertown it is.
Basic.
We have a Walmart, a couple drug stores, salons and a place to get your eyes checked. We have the basic necessities covered but that’s about it.
Cute.
As of lately we have acquired some very cute new cafes like Java Bake Co. which is located on Main Street across the The Grand Theatre which is also awesome due to it’s old time atmosphere.
Driving.
Want to go to a local mall? Better settle in for a good 30-minute drive at best.
Exciting.
Though there isn’t that much to do around here there are some local views that are truly to die for and some hikes that will take your breathe away
Fulfilling.
If you live in this town then you most likely went to school in the local school district and though we weren’t as fancy as Perk Prep, we definitely got a fulfilling education.
Green.
Pretty much everywhere since we are located near a lot of Farmland and if you ever got hungry and wanted to go to Shady Maple, you definitely saw a ton of green driving through Lancaster.
Happy.
It’s probably safe to say that the majority of the people in the town are relatively friendly and if you’re out in public it’s not uncommon to make eye contact with a stranger and share a smile with them.
Incognito.
It almost feels like this town is super off the radar sometimes but if you’re from Pennsburg then you’ll know that’s not the case.
Jogging.
It’s not uncommon to see a jogger running along the back roads while you’re driving and trying to be super patient as you drive slowly behind them waiting for a moment to pass them safely.
Kindergarten.
It’s super possible that you’ve known your best friend since Kindergarten…and you’re entire graduating class for that matter.
Lazy.
Whenever you felt lazy you know you could rely on this town for a great place in the park to just lounge out with friends with a picnic.
Montgomery Ave.
A very long stretch of road with a very unreasonable speed limit. It is extremely common to get pulled over there for speeding since the speed limit only….25.
New York.
If you went to the Upper Perk School District, then you have most definitely been to New York at least once since that seems to be the popular place to take field trips. To be fair, it really isn’t that far.
Old.
Many buildings in this town have been here for a very long time and if you go to Professional Pharmacy, you can definitely count on finding some historical books on this town. It may seem kind of lame but if you take the time to look at it, it’s pretty cool.
Philadelphia.
No, we don’t live in Philadelphia and technically we are a suburb. Yes, we are close to Philadelphia but it seems like any venturing into that city still somehow turns into a day trip.
Quaint.
In the end, we are still a quaint little town where generations of the same family have been living for quite awhile and that’s totally fine since it’s pretty much guaranteed that you can’t walk out of your house without running into someone you know.
Ritas.
The one place you can count on for a nice sweet treat on a long hot summer day but on free water ice day or any day with a promotion, you better get ready to stand in a long line and hope that your favorite flavor of water ice is still available.
Sleep.
This town sometimes feels like the definiton of a sleepy old town and it probably is. Until recently we look like we’ve been stuck in the past architecturally but we are finally starting to update and join our fellow towns into the future.
Tractor.
More than once you have been stuck behind a tractor on a main roadway and all you can really do is follow it until either they turn off or you get an opportunity to pass.
Uber.
While Uber is recent thing, you definitely won’t find Uber drivers in Pennsburg as easily as you would in Philadelphia. If only.
Validating.
Even if you felt like you wanted to leave this town, you still have this sort of validating feeling knowing where you come from and knowing that it will always be there for you.
Wonder Lust.
Growing up in a small town makes you want to travel so much and explore the world in ways you never may have thought of before. It makes you want to write out a bucket list of places to go to and put aside a jar with money it to help to make those dreams come true.
Xhilarating. (I know it starts with an “E”)
In a small town where there isn’t much to do there are definitely ways to find find thrills in this town (legally of course). You make your own fun and turn those bored days into some of the best days of your life.
Young.
Most of your teachers are started working so young that they most likely had your parents in class and will surely tell you that they did.
Zip.
If you grew up in this town then you’ll realize that those childhood days went by in the blink of an eye. But that’s okay because you have the rest of your life to make tons of memories.
