A is for Atherton Union
You have a majority of your meals here for your freshmen year and will go through the highs and lows of the quality of the food. You will rely mostly on Miss Nikki sandwiches and the chicken sandwiches for a consistent source of food.
B is for the Black Beard
The squirrel has his own twitter and is talked about constantly around campus.
C is for Community of Care
It was talked about all Welcome Week and you never understood what it was all about until you lost your ID and some strangers were there to help you look for it or return it.
D is for Dance
As many of us know Butler has one of the top dance and ballet programs in the nation. They put on productions like The Nutcracker and amaze the student body.
E is for Events
It seems every morning when you get the Butler Connection on your email, there is always something going on for the week. There are always numerous events happening, from Greek life philanthropy to visiting writers- there is always something.
F is for Fountain Hopping
A Butler student’s right of passage is jumping in all of the fountains on campus. You can always see the freshmen doing it during welcome week.
G is for Greek
Greek life is definitely very prominent on campus. Sometimes it can be super open and inviting, but also sometimes you feel left out if you aren’t in it.
H is for Hinkle Field house
I mean it is historic Hinkle Field house from the movie Hoosiers. This movie is a staple for all sports fans and Midwesterners. Butler also has all their basketball games here and as we all know game days are the best days.I is for Irwin
Our library on campus was constructed to look like books on a shelf. Honestly though I feel like the library is only used during finals and clusters week.
J is for Jones as in Roosevelt Jones
Our favorite and least favorite player on the basketball team. We are hating him when he is clanking free throws and missing off balanced layups. We love him, however, when he hits those off balanced layups with time expiring like he did against Cincinnati.
K is for The Knoll
Probably where you went to your first college party at Butler and where you dream of living your senior year began. Throwing up on the knoll is a right of passage as a Bulldog and almost an initiation to the Butler Bubble.
L is for Lilly Hall
One of Butler’s buildings that is dedicated to the Jordan College of the Arts. You can usually find music and dance majors wondering the halls.
M is for Monuments
The Bulldog monuments can be found all over campus. Each college has their own and is decorated to fit what that college is all about. They are in Fairbanks, Jordan, Holcomb, the Pharmacy building, and Lilly. There is also one in front of Atherton and outside one of the sorority houses. Another monument is the BU sign that we all love to take pics by.
N is for Nugget Night
Probably the only time you were super happy about having your meal plan. The lines for nugget night were always ridiculous, but so worth it.
O is for Oracle
One of many websites you have an account for at Butler. This is the one you go on and check to see that the classes you want to take are already filled up.
P is for Puppies
There are always dogs and puppies around campus and owners are always happy to let you play and pet them.
Q is for Queen
Homecoming Queen that is. At a small school like Butler you probably knew all of the candidates very well and were torn between who to vote for. However you were happy with whoever won the title.
R is for Rush
Rush is what is on everyone’s mind once meals and rush events start. You and your friends probably discussed all being in the same house and what it would be like if you weren’t.
S is for Senior House
You probably signed your senior house before you chose where you were living junior year. The hunt for the best senior house starts the first day you move back in sophomore year.
T is for Televised Basketball Games
One of the not so many channels we have on cable in the dorms happens to be the one that televises all every home Butler game as well as our away Big East ones.
U is for Unit
Probably where you met your best friends for live when you moved in freshman year.
V is for Vonnegut
Kurt Vonnegut, who wrote the novel Slaughterhouse 5 attended Butler University, however, left due to grades.
W is for W 44rd
Where seniors can live off campus right behind Ross Hall. Many senior house parties happen on this street and some of the best ones as well.
I mean Xavier sucks am I right Bulldogs? Hell yeah!
Y is for Yell Like Hell
The activity that kicks off homecoming week! Where fraternities, sororities, and residence halls pair up and do skits around the theme. Always very festive and gets us all excited for Homecoming!
Z is for Zoo
The Indianapolis Zoo is a favorite place to get off campus and have some Good Clean Fun and when SGA does trips there signups fill up very fast.
I hope now you all know your ABC's!
