There is no feeling like it. After years of listening to their music, watching their interviews, and basically stalking their lives, the satisfaction of seeing your favorite band live is unreal. Concerts in general are amazing experiences, but when you finally see your favorite artists right in front of your face, it makes the experience that much better.
Being a dedicated fan is tough work, and we are rewarded with two hours of pure magic for one night. Until you experience seeing your favorite band live, you do not know the many emotions leading up to the epic night that come in many stages.
Stage One: The Tour Release
You wake up in the morning, you go on Facebook, and the first post you see is announcing that your favorite band has released their tour dates and locations. As you totally freak out, you frantically scan the list praying to God they come to your city. Then you see it. They are coming to your city and you don’t know if you want to scream or cry.
Stage Two: The Lucky Feeling
The tickets go on sale today. You are sitting at your computer waiting patiently for it to hit the time tickets go on sale. There is not a better feeling than seeing the “Congratulations: You are seeing (insert band name)!” page pop up. No one in the world is as lucky as you are. Do not fight me on this.
Stage Three: Time Is Your Worst Enemy
Okay, so you buy your tickets in November and the concert is not until July. After the happy high from purchasing the tickets has faded, you remember that now you have to play the waiting game, and it is pure torture. You count down the months, weeks, and days until the date, and it is all you can talk about. Your patience is tested during this stage, but as it gets closer, you cannot contain your excitement.
Stage Four: Today is the Day
OH. MY. GOD. You wake up in the morning and you have the biggest smile on your face. Today is the day you see your favorite band live. You take the day to mentally prepare, because tonight – you are going to lose it.
Stage Five: Basket Case
This is the stage where you have that empty-pit feeling in your stomach and you feel like you might throw up. The time between the opening act and your favorite band is a roller coaster of emotions and you do not know what to do. Cry? Scream? Smile? All three? Sounds good.
Stage Six: The Intro Video
HOLY CRAP, ITS STARTING. This is what you have been waiting months for, and it is finally here. You feel nothing but pure bliss.
Stage Seven: FANGIRL ALERT
You sing every word to every song, laugh at every joke, and dance like a total idiot. They say scream? Oh, you scream. They are right there and you cannot believe it. After years of following this band, you are finally in the same stadium as they are and it feels like a dream. This is actually happening, I swear.
Stage Eight: Total and Utter Depression
You have waited years and months for this night, and after the grand finale, you feel empty. It is over in the blink of an eye. Who knows the next time they will come to a city near you? It is an awful feeling.
Stage Nine: Cloud 9
Although you are sad it is over, you feel completely content. Now, when you hear their songs, you can remember what it felt like to hear them live. You watch the videos you took and try to fathom how it was real. The feeling is unmatched and you go on with your life wondering when you can do it all over again.
