Christmas is the best time of the year, hands down, with snow creating a peaceful, beautiful atmosphere and your entire family being in the same place together, enjoying that peacefulness. The gifts, the church services, the family time, and the feast are enough to make anyone ready to pack their bags and leave finals behind. Here's a list of some of the best things about being home any time, but especially for the holidays.
1. Your dog barrels into you right when you walk in the door.
If this is how I die, I'm completely fine with that. There's nothing like being welcomed back home as if you've been gone for a year. Which to them, it might feel like you have. Just because you got a half-hearted, "Hey," from your younger brother doesn't mean someone in this household isn't head-over-heels for you to be back.
2. Your mom cooked a real meal. Like, not pizza rolls. But lasagna.
This is lasagna that I didn't pay a dollar for to heat up in three minutes at home! Mind. Blown. And this is just a teaser for Christmas dinner.
3. You get to reunite with all your high school friends.
Not to mention meet up at your old hang-out spot. You're finally all in the same place at the same time, for almost three weeks. There's nothing better than some old friends to help you realize how blessed you are during the holiday season.
4. You don't have to slip and slide through snow and ice just to get somewhere.
5. When you just completed fall semester and now you have no more homework.
Could there be a more glorious feeling? No homework, lots of food, and enough time to actually be bored. It's almost eerie how schoolwork is no longer always in the back of your mind.
6. A bed. A real bed with an actual mattress and not just a topper.
7. The holidays are just around the corner.
8. When it's all over, you get to reunite with your roommates/college friends.
Plus, it's syllabus week when you go back. So not only do you have something to look forward to when you go home, you also have something to look forward to coming back. Bring on the break, please.

Once again, this is the best time of the year. Food, family, presents, and more food. Plus, no homework. Is there any way this could get any better?
