The 5 Worst Ways People Leave

A lot of people break up or lose friends, but the way they leave says a lot about who they are.

As much as we hate it, a lot of people are in our lives only to make an appearance. And the way they choose to walk out on us can leave lasting wounds.

Here are 5 worst ways that people leave.

1. The Betrayal

It’s like they were ready to leave but they decided to ruin everything first. Either they cheated on you, spread rumors about you, or any of the nasty tendencies backstabbers commit. They sure did leave with a bang, but we wish they would’ve gone quietly.

2. The Slow Departure

Some people don’t know how to end things. They slowly, painstakingly make themselves less and less available in your life. They don’t make half as much effort as you do to be together. You can tell they’re not interested in continuing a friendship or relationship anymore, but they might not realize it themselves. At a certain point you’re together, but in no true sense are you “together.”

3. The Coward/ Backslider

It’s when someone doesn’t want to be with you and you can tell, but for some reason, they’re still holding on. Unlike #2 they’re fully aware of their actions. They’re either A) Scared to be alone or B) Scared that they’ll feel guilty for leaving you.

Sometimes they might leave, but they always come back.

Bonus round: Don’t confuse this with them being scared of hurting your feelings because they’re already hurting your feelings!

4. Growing Apart

This one is a real stunner. You can be with someone for a very long time, but at some point, you know you don’t click. You don’t like the same jokes, you don’t do the same things, or you don’t have the same goals. Who can you really blame but time?

5. The Ghost

This is one of those low down garbage person moves. If you’re a person who has done this then fun fact: you’re a low down garbage person. It’s when someone just…disappears.

Everything might be going well (or it might be going really badly) but instead of discussing it, they’re gone. One day you’re blocked from all social media, you’re not getting any responses, and their friends and family have turn a cold shoulder.

If you have experienced any of these painful losses remember, there are people in your life that choose to stay. They’re more worthy of your attention than the ones who are gone.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.
