The 5 Steps to Write a Paper

It's the week before finals, which means that in every class there's a paper due.

Step 1:

Procrastinate until the very last moment. Its due at midnight, better watch Netflix for a couple hours before starting.

Step 2:

Open up the database website and attempt to search for your topic. You might get one source but it will take several different entries and lots of breaks to check Instagram.

Step 3:

Start to actually write the paper. You'll be good for about the first three pages, and then you get to...

Step 4:

Road block. You're out of ideas and you can't figure out another way to rephrase your thesis. At this point you probably take a lengthy break hoping inspiration will strike you...possibly while getting pizza.

Step 5:

Realize the deadline is quickly approaching and go into a caffeine induced frenzy to finish the paper with exactly 59 seconds to spare.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.
