Spring Break, as most of us know it to be, contains the most excitement and brisk adventures of all the breaks in college. It isn't way too long like Winter Break, it isn't months long like summer, nor is it only really one day of excitement like Thanksgiving (the rest of it mourning with despair knowing you're coming back to face finals); the whole of it is valued, yet goes by so fast that by the time we get back the semester is almost over. The dynamics of spring break leaves people either having their suitcases packed weeks in advance, or hopping into their bed planning to stay in it for a week. Regardless, we all have similar thoughts about the sudden pause where you can completely get away, or enjoy the peaceful moment before facing the rest of the atrocity in a semester (seniors especially). Below is a brief summary of all the many thoughts we have about spring break, whether or not we have something crazy planned for it.

"Wait, it's Spring Break already?"

Spring semester goes by much differently than Fall semester, where we're used to having our breaks towards the very end of everything. Having a break in the middle of a semester feels so sudden, especially when it's right around when we feel finally settled back in school. This year's weather leaves us particularly confused, as some of feel like Spring's been here already for weeks. Spring Break is a nice realization, but when it hits us we also realize how close the semester, and overall year is to ending. It kind of acts as a strange pause in the middle, leaving us both excited as we all embark on some kind of crazy adventure outside of college, but also leaving us overwhelmed as time is flying by in another semester.

"What do I do?"

Even for those who already have something planned, everyone in some way or another debates on the best way to conduct Spring Break is, including "Do I start my homework at the beginning or do it at the end of break?" "Should I sleep in or wake up early to get on the road?" and of course "Do I do my laundry now or wait until I get home?" The question really is what to do, because unfortunately, you most likely have homework that your teachers assigned as if knowing you wouldn't be doing anything over break, and you only have a week to catch up on anything. If only Spring Break was as long as most of us picture it to be.

"Oh wait I had homework to do didn't I"

Speaking of homework and break, although the two words shouldn't ever be in the same sentence, hence 'break,' most of us know the struggle of having some form of homework to do on vacation. But let's face it, most of us can't even bring ourselves to do any work over break, let alone remember in the moment that we have any. It's not until the very end of it that you remember what you were supposed to do: a ludicrous amount of homework your professors wanted you to somehow prioritize.

"What happened to Spring Break?"

Spring Break may feel like a while, but it's essentially only a week, which already flies by in school already. By the time you realize it's over, you're already back in school wondering what happened to Spring Break. Because it's our only break in Spring, it's easy to overestimate the time you have. Nine days seems long, but it's only really a week to do something. But this is why you should try to make the most out of Spring Break, even if you don't have anywhere to go, especially if it's your final year of college.

"Wait, we have how long now until Summer?"

Spring Break goes by so fast you can't help but wonder how long it is until the next vacation. It also is that time where you completely lose track of the days and unknowingly are going through half a month in a semester. When you come back it feels like you've fast-forwarded a month in the semester, and then you only have around two months before the next thing to look forward to is summer. For graduating seniors, it's even crazier because the whole last year seems to be going by fast enough as it is. At least summer isn't too far away after Spring Break.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
