Last summer I was in the midst of a divorce and it was really hard to see the love I once believed to be a fairy tale dwindle to heated words of hatred and life altering legal documents. This list may not be meaningful to you, but these are the five songs that got me through what proved to be the most transitional year of my life thus far and I ultimately learned my value, strength and wisdom.

1. "Who Knew" - P!nk

"You took my hand, you showed me how. You promised me you'd be around. I took your words and I believed in everything you said to me. If someone said three years from now you'd be long gone... I'd stand up and punch them out 'cause they're all wrong! I know better 'cause you said forever and ever... who knew?"

2. "Without You" - Hinder

"It's safe to say that I’m ready to let you leave. Without you, I live it up a little more everyday. Without you, I’m seein' myself so differently. I didn’t wanna believe it then but it all worked out in the end. When I watched you walk away, well I never thought I'd say I’m fine without you."

3. "Scars" - Papa Roach

"I tear my heart open, I sew myself shut. My weakness is that I care too much... and our scars remind us that the past is real. I tear my heart open just to feel. I tried to help you once against my own advice. I saw you going down but you never realized that you're drowning in the water so I offered you my hand. Compassion is in my nature... tonight is our last stand."

4. "Over You" - Daughtry

"Now that it's all said and done, I can't believe you were the one to build me up and tear me down, like an old abandoned house... Well, I never saw it coming, I should've started running a long, long time ago. And I never thought I'd doubt you, I'm better off without you... more than you know! I'm slowly getting closure, I guess it's really over. I'm finally getting better. And now I'm picking up the pieces, I'm spending all of these years putting my heart back together 'cause the day I thought I'd never get through... I got over you."

5. "Me Without You" - Jennifer Nettles

"Well you left the cage door open and your pretty bird just flew. And I never knew, that I could fly so high and the sky could be this blue. I can't believe it's real, so this is how it feels... me, without you. Now I wake up early, the whole world feels new. Seems so strange to ask myself what do I wanna do? Now I don't know this road I'm on or where it's leading to, but I know I'm gonna be alright... the more I see, the more I like me, without you."

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
