Republican candidate Donald Trump has been surprise after surprise, as he has gained and lost momentum in this election campaign. Many viewed it as another elaborate celebrity hoax running for office, and have, over time, realized that this might just actually be happening to America. The Americans out there that share the fear of this candidate actually being the Republican Party's primary candidate know all too well that they have gone through stages of lightheartedness, to panic, to fear, and back to humor again.
Stage 1: Announcement of Candidacy.
"Guys, did you see who just announced they're running for president?? This is going to be hilarious!!" We were all so confident, yet so naive at the same time that we knew what would be happening next.
Stage 2: The Social Media Posts.
Still funny, but the joke is getting old at this point... wondering when people will start laughing it off for real...
Stage 3: Candidate Begins the Racist, Sexist, Classist, Phobic Speeches.
The laughing stops...and the confusion sets in.
"Guys, do you hear what he is saying? Don't you think he's taking this joke a little too far?"
Stage 4: Relatives Begin to Argue That Trump "Says What Everyone Is Thinking" and Reactions at the Dinner Table Start to Look Like:
Parents force their politically astute millennials to shut their mouths and smile politely in order to avoid a brawl on Thanksgiving.
Stage 5: The Mexican Wall Plan.
"Oh...Oh wow guys I think he is serious..." This is also the stage where the blocking on Facebook begins.
Stage 6: People Taking the Mexican Wall Plan Seriously.
Some people actually believe that a wall (recent update: it's going to be higher now) will work, despite multiple occurrences in history where walls didn't work.
Stage 7: Trump Pulls Ahead in the Polls.
"Did I....did I miss something?" As Trump gains lead in the Republican polls, faith in humanity is now questioned.
Stage 8: Reality of the Election Sets In.
After a brief relapse of humor, the panic and fear set in. A pivotal stage in he campaign of Donald Trump.
Stage 9: Trump's Arguments Made at Debates.
Yep. It is now real life. Cringe-worthy statements made by Mr. Trump at multiple debates.
Stage 10: Brief Ray of Hope Where the Other Candidates Begin to Overtake His Lead.
Cruz. Still not great. But not Trump.
Stage 11: Hope is Destroyed By Another Lead in the Polls.
Well, there it goes. I guess acceptance is key.
Stage 12: Acceptance of a New Canadian Home.
At least I'll be able to obtain healthcare at ease.
It isn't easy for many people in America right now, and some candidates make it even harder. Experiencing The 12 Stages of Realizing Donald Trump's Campaign is usually normal for people who have morals and believe in true ethics. Remember to support each other during this time of great fear and panic. Also, remember to support a candidate who better supports your interests by voting in primary and official elections if eligible.
