The 10 Stages Of Finals Week As Told By The Office

Finals week is upon us. We all have different ways of dealing with the stress of the week, but no one does it better than our friends from The Office. These people seem to encompass what it means to be brave during finals week through these quirky stages. From confidence to denial, and to acceptance of the inevitable, there are many emotions and phases associated with finals week. These are the many stages of dealing with this dreary week:

1. When you think you've got it all figured out.

Perhaps, like Kelly, you too feel strangely confident in your ability to ace your finals. Finals don't scare you, you're a genius, right?

2. When the professor assigns extra work due two days before the final.

"Oh, of course I don't have other tests to study for and essays to write. Yes Mr. So-and-so I have plenty of time to write that extra essay and create that presentation. In fact, I think I have too much free time." - No Student Ever.

3. When your final grade rests on a group project.

Group projects. *sigh* When you put a bunch of stressed out students together and make them collaborate on an assignment that counts for your final grade, there is going to be conflict.

4. When you realize you zoned out way too many times in class this semester.

Oh no. You know that class. It's probably the 7 a.m. class you didn't mean to sign up for. Whatever the class, it's truly the worst when you get the final study guide and realize you haven't been paying attention in class -- at all. Whoops!

5. When the stress is too much.

The stress can be painfully overwhelming. The late nights, over-caffeination, and note-taking-induced hand cramps can really ruin your week.

6. So you stop caring...

Then you get to this point. You are past stress. You have now entered the realm of not caring; you feel numb. Your grade no longer has any hold on you.

7. And you cry.

The mental breakdown sets in. You cry. You contemplate your future. You realize that this final could be the difference between living in a penthouse eating filet mignon off a silver platter and living in a cardboard box eating scraps out of a dumpster.

8. And eat ice cream.

When all else fails, ice cream never will. Perhaps its sweet and creamy goodness will help to soothe your pain.

9. When it's finally over but you lost a bit of your soul in the process.

After finals there is nothing you can do but wait and attempt to put yourself back together.

10. When you get your final grade back.

Once the grades are in there is nothing you can do. Fate had its way and whatever the outcome, you did the best you could.

Happy finals!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
