That You Would Bear My Cross

I took all the scenery in and I said to myself, THIS IS AMAZING GRACE.

That You Would Bear My Cross

This morning I was sitting on the porch. Coffee in one hand and my computer in the other. I sat here staring at the screen of my computer. WHAT was I supposed to write on this week. Normally by this time, I have all my ducks in a row. I know what topic I want to write on and I know what points I want to make. Well, today I had no clue what to do.

I thought about skipping this week. I thought it's okay if I don't write one this week.

Then I remembered a conversation I had a few weeks back with a high school teacher. She told me how proud she was of me and how she looked forward to reading my weekly articles.

This remembrance reminded me why I chose to start writing in the first place.... To give someone else an encouraging message, to give people an insight into my thoughts, dreams even.

I write because I want to feel a purpose. I write to share my love of God. I write for God and for others and never for myself.

So, no, I could not just skip this week. People look forward to hearing from me.

So I sat some more, looking at the beauty around me. The trees in all their beauty, shades of green, brown, orange, and red. Leaves blowing by me in the wind. The smell in the air. The smell of my coffee. The sunshine in the sky and the cool, but not too cool fall temperatures.

I took all the scenery in and I said to myself, THIS IS AMAZING GRACE.

A ginormous smile crossed my face at the thought of all of His grace surrounding me.

And I thought I didn't have anything to write on.

I am sitting here and breathing because of Amazing Grace.

"This is amazing grace. This is unfailing love, that You would take my place, that You would bear my cross. You lay down your life so I would be set free. Jesus, I sing for all that You've done for me."

Every day is a new day and a new promise to Christians. God gave us this life when we did not deserve it. He shed His grace upon the earth.

When I am having a bad day I can look around me and see all God's grace.

I can look at the people in my life and see His grace. I can smile and I can worship freely because of His grace.

It's my prayer that someone will benefit from my words. It is my prayer that I am able to spread the Good News to all eyes and ears.

It is my prayer that everyone sees God's grace every day.

Ephesians 2:8-10

"For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast. For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do."

Amazing Grace is what got me where I am today.

this is amazing grace.

Happy Thanksgiving week!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
