This week has been one of the roughest weeks I have had in a long time. After a week of what seemed to be never ending projects, papers, and work, I can honestly say I'm glad it's over! Next week is a holiday that many people know as "Turkey Day"; where we gather with our friends and family to eat endless amounts of food all day and fellowship with those around us. But the main reason we celebrate Thanksgiving is to say thank you to our Creator.
We all have weeks like I had where it is hard to focus on the good things, and easier to focus on the stress it brings. After the week was over, I sat down and felt a sense of relief. I was glad the week was over, but as I looked back on what all I did, I did not find the satisfaction I had hoped for. I focused too much on what had to be finished, rather than being thankful for what I have. So, I started writing a list of things I am thankful for:
I am thankful for my college. It's not everyday that someone has the opportunity to attend one of the greatest colleges in the world. I am so thankful for the opportunity I have each and every day to earn a degree in something I love.
I am thankful for my friends. You guys are the best, seriously. Whenever I am feeling like I need to talk about something, you guys are there. I'm so appreciative of our friendship!
I am thankful for my family. We may have our disagreements, troubles, and personal feelings, but I know at the end of the day I am still loved, and I still love you. No amount pain and disagreements can come between us.
I am thankful for my better half. There is not a day that goes by whenever I do not love you. We have grown so much together, and I cannot wait to spend the rest of our lives together on many different adventure. I love you darling.
I am thankful for my God. Without Him, I would not be able to know true happiness in anything. No amount of material happiness can come close to the true love and joy He gives me. Without God, I would not be here today.
So I challenge you all to find what makes you happy. If your week is going similar to how mine went, take a moment to stop, breathe, and think about the joy in your life. We have so much to be thankful for, so let's focus on that. I hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving. Eat lots of food, and enjoy those around you.
