As the leaves change colors throughout the fall months, our country shifts gear into "holiday mode." Yet to many, this November is not screaming with Thanksgiving cheers. Living in South Florida, I believe that we miss out on the fall festivities with the falling leaves and perfect sweater weather. Also, this election season has Trumped and stolen the spotlight. I have devised a list of what I am thankful for this Thanksgiving to bring about the joy of the largely anticipated food mountain that will appear on your plate this coming Thursday.

I'm thankful for...

My parents: who are constantly doing everything to the best of their abilities to help me become a better person. Whether it is teaching moral values, pushing me to go the extra mile in the classroom or on the soccer field, they have taught me over the years to keep my eye on the prize, and never give up on my dreams. My mom and dad have supported my collegiate athletic aspirations and have encouraged me to pursue it to all ends. I am becoming the dedicated diehards that my parents are and I will be forever grateful for it. As my mother always says, "winners never quit, and quitters never win."

My friends: who ALWAYS keep me optimistic and support me through the greatest hardships. Whenever I am having a bad day, my friends can always bring a smile to my face. From sleepovers to late night phone calls, my friends have helped me create memories that will last a lifetime.

My siblings: who have played a huge role in my life. I could not be any more grateful for them. Growing up as a triplet, with siblings the same age as me, my house was never quiet. We would constantly battle against one another with school grades, random athletic races, food eating competitions, and basically anything that we could put a competitive edge on. I always had not just one, but two kids to play with, leaving room for an infinite amount of fun. Although at times we are like the stereotypical siblings that hate each other, we will always be best friends and rely on one another.

Soccer: which plays such an important role in my life. Soccer is my first love that has kept me dedicated and driven for years. Playing this great sport has given me a sanctuary to channel my emotions after a rough day and has allowed me to turn it into something positive. I am thankful for soccer because it has given me incredible friendships, taught me heart and keeps me in shape so I am able to eat all the turkey I want!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
