Every year, Christmas seems to be starting earlier and earlier. Black Friday also seems to be starting on Thursday afternoons rather than starting on Friday like it should. This irritates me. Thanksgiving should not be a forgotten holiday and it seems like it is as I get older.
Thanksgiving, one of my favorite holidays, is great. You get to eat as much food as you want in one day and you get plenty of desserts.
What could be better?
Oh wait, it can get better. On top of being able to stuff your face, you get to do it with your family around you. When I was younger, it would annoy me that I had to go spend time with my family. I loved them to death, but it always seemed like such a chore. Since being in college, I have come to miss them more and more. I go to school out of state, and I do not see them nearly as often as I would like to, which makes me sad.
If Black Friday starts on Thursday, I will not get to spend as much time with my family because they want to go get the hottest deals or search for them to prepare for the shopping. Black Friday should stay Black Friday and not become Black Thursday. It takes away from Thanksgiving and makes it seem less special.
As soon as Halloween is over, everyone talks about Christmas. They completely forget there is a big holiday that takes place about a month before Christmas. When you bring up Thanksgiving, most people say, "Oh yeah," as if it does not matter.
Christmas is in December. It is not in November.
I say we keep Thanksgiving a holiday instead of skipping over it like it does not matter.
This year, spend some extra time with your family; do not skip out on them because you are annoyed. Pay attention to them. The stores will still be having the same sales the next day. You can wait until you are home to see what they are. Christmas is in a month. Just wait until the clock strikes 12 before you get into the Christmas spirit. Its time will come. Be patient and enjoy the time you have. Times like these do not come often enough; do not take it for granted.
