Thanksgiving Break As Told By Cats

These funny felines are all geared up for Thanksgiving.

Thanksgiving Break As Told By Cats
RBerteig

It's finally here, friends. November break is upon us at last. For some of us, that means mountains of food, hordes of family members, and dragging out the decorations for the holiday season. For others, it simply means getting a short breather from classes and bonding with Netflix for a few days. No matter how you plan to spend your break, it's certainly a blessing we all need at this point in the semester.

To celebrate all of us making it this far, I've rounded up some cats who understand exactly what we're all going through, and who can help make this November break just a little bit cuter.

1. When you have an entire week off for Thanksgiving.

Even if your school only officially gives you a few days of the week for break, having professors who decide to cancel class Monday and Tuesday just really makes you want to dance.

2. When all your friends have an entire week off and you only get two days.

"I see you all having fun without me over there."

3. Having no homework over break.

Although it's not exactly hammock season, this cozy kitty definitely has the right idea. No responsibilities, no worries.

4. Having all the homework over break.

Of course, some of us aren't lucky enough to have no responsibilities over Thanksgiving. In that case, we have to show our work who's boss from day one.

5. Getting to become a blanket hermit for several days straight.

What better way to spend a vacation, really?

6. Seeing all your friends from back home.

To be honest, most of my interactions with my friends look like this anyway, but reuniting with my high school friends in my hometown tends to involve even more hugs.

7. Day one back under your parents' roof.

This is when all the hugs and "I missed you"s are exchanged, before your parents start to remind you of all the little things they do that just drive you up the wall.

8. Day seven back under your parents' roof.

This is the point where the smothering has hit, full-force. At least most of our parents (hopefully) don't sit on us.

9. Eating mountains of food on Thanksgiving.

I'm not sure if pancakes are really a Thanksgiving food, but this little kitty has the right idea.

10. Being the one to cook all that food on Thanksgiving.

"Okay, everyone's coming over in fifteen minutes and the only thing we have prepared is a tray of vegetables. Got to get the turkey in the oven and the potatoes cooked and the stuffing thrown together-- wait, where did the bread go?"

11. Visiting with all your favorite relatives.

Aw, of course we're one big happy family. Just look at how precious we are.

12. Being stuck with all those relatives you can't stand.

"For the love of all that's holy please save me from this nightmare I can't keep pretending to be nice like this."

13. Recovering from the food coma the day after Thanksgiving.

"Wake me up when school's over."

14. Trying to cram in all the homework due after break on the last two days.

"This essay is due ten minutes from now and I've only got a sentence written. Time to shift into maximum overdrive."

15. Realizing you have to go back to school.

"If you expect me to go back there and suffer through finals, you're going to have to drag me the entire way."

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving break, everyone! Get some rest and enjoy the holiday-- we've all earned it.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
