Thanksgiving has always been one of my favorite holidays. It is during a great season, and it marks the beginning of the true holiday season. It's a festive time of year and it really is important to take advantage of this time to count your blessings in life and give thanks.
Although I have always loved it, after coming to college I have a new appreciation for the holiday and enjoy even more perks than ever before. Here are some reasons why Thanksgiving is better once you've gone to college.
1. After almost 3 months for some people, you finally get to go home and have a break from school.
2. You get to see your friends from home for the first time in months.
3. You have another level of appreciation for the delicious food after eating in the dining hall.
4. You get to spend with family that you have missed.
5. Conversations that you may usually dread are more exciting because it's been so long since you've been bombarded with questions from family.
6. You're getting a much-deserved break from school, after not having had a day off in three months.
7. A post-Thanksgiving meal nap is an actual catch up on your sleep.
8. Things like the Macy's Day Parade which you may have thought you were too old to appreciate, are now endearing.
9. For the first time in a while, you are truly relaxed, surrounded by loved ones, and enjoying really amazing food.
