Thank You, Taylor Swift

She's a superstar who has her life together, and that doesn't happen often.

Thank You, Taylor Swift

Just about ten years ago, Taylor Swift released her first hit, "Teardrops on My Guitar," when she was 16 years old. After ten years of being one of the top faces in the media, with five platinum albums, she still manages to stay out of trouble and is a wonderful role model for girls around the world (and is not one of the celebs you see in the media all the time with a DWI or drug arrest.) With that being said, I have a lot to thank Taylor for.

1. Thank you for getting me through my first breakup.

There's nothing worse than a broken heart, but listening to Taylor's music heals your heart as fast as possible. Not only does she sing about being hurt by a boy, she sings about being strong. She taught me that no boy who makes you cry deserves your love.

2. Thank you for being classy.

She's been on the red carpet numerous times for all different events, and the one thing that separates her from many other female celebs is her class. Less is not more when it comes to dressing yourself and too many women flaunt their bodies with see-through dresses and nipple covers.

3. Thank you for the best jam sessions.

You simply cannot listen to "22" or "Shake it Off" without screaming the lyrics at the top of your lungs and shakin' what your momma gave ya!

4. Thank you for dancing.

Even though the media gives her so much crap for the way she dances, I love it. She doesn't care what anyone else thinks and if she feels like dancing, she's going to dance whether she looks good or not. Her fearlessness is contagious.

5. Thank you for always being the bigger person.

Whether it's from Kanye or a low-life journalist, she never retaliates. Kanye ruined her VMA speech in 2009, but she never shot back at him afterward in a distasteful manner. Her Grammys acceptance speech this year could have been an immature dig at Kanye, but instead she chose to rise above and send the message that she is always going to be the bigger person.

6. Thank you for all that you give back.

Whether it's surprising terminally ill fans or supporting Ke$ha through her battle with her producer, she's always looking to improve the lives of others.

.

7. Thank you for the best concert of my life.

Three summers ago, I saw her live and, to this day, it was the best concert I have ever been to. Her energy and stage presence was like no other performer I have watched. Plus, she even had a second stage that was IN THE CROWD and that was the best surprise ever.

8. Thank you for your Instagram page.

Rather than posting professional pictures of herself everyday, she's always posting pictures of her and her friends. It's good to know that celebrities are real people, too.

9. Thank you for bringing red lipstick back.

She's always wearing lipstick in casual clothes, which is totally freaking awesome. I always thought of old women when I thought of lipstick, but not anymore.

10. Thank you for being so down to Earth.

Too many celebrities these days think they are above everything and that they are some sort of god. Her compassion toward others is remarkable and something that every celebrity should learn from.

11. Thank you for making it easy to be a fan.

So many celebs screw up, say stupid things or absolutely lose it. The pressures of constantly being in the spotlight hasn't turned her into a madwoman and I'm very grateful for that. I will always proudly be a huge fan of hers. Thank you, Taylor Swift.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
