Thanks For Everything

An ode to my best friend.

Thanks For Everything

An ode to all of my best friends, old and new, thank you, truly, for everything that you have done for me, whether it be a short amount of time we've known each other or forever. I don't know where I would be without you all. And I truly am so thankful that you have come into my life.

Thank you for the all the memories we've made, and all those to come, and I'm so thankful that we started our college journey together.

Thank you for those silly elementary sleepovers, and the even better college ones, (where we fall asleep at 11 pm and wake up at 9 am, hey we can still get McDonald's breakfast...)

Thank you for always being my number one, main supporters.

Thank you for always coming back and being part of my life, even when we push each other out.

Thank you for being my sister's best friend, but also, my best friend.

Thank you for always telling me if my outfit looks okay, or being self conscious and telling me if it really doesn't. Sometimes the harsh truth is better than us taking pictures and me being annoyed because I don't look good in any of them.

Thank you for sacrificing yourself to go to stupid places with me.

Thank you for always being up for a Dairy Queen run, and not caring how many calories we inhale.

Thank you for being my childhood best friend, my elementary school best friend, my middle school best friend, my high school best friend, and now, my college best friend.

Thank you for letting me tell you everything. I don't know what I would do if all these thoughts were trapped in my head.

Thank you for ALWAYS telling me I'm too good for him, because sometimes, it's hard to make yourself believe it.

Thank you for making me laugh, when I don't even want to smile, (I know, that's cheesy, right?).

Thank you for going out with me, and not caring if the night ends up a total disaster.

Thank you for making library runs with me, and going out for late night snacks at DX.

Thank you for helping me take care of Tate (my fish). We don't know where we would be without you.

Thank you for all the El Rods trips, they're a classic. (A lot of these thank yous involve food...)

Thank you for being there for my family, and always being kind, and helpful to them. They really and truly appreciate it.

Thank you for destroying the boundaries of friendship and becoming more like family to me, and my family.

Thank you for knowing how to make a cup of tea, (because I would die without it.)

Thank you for loving the "weird" things I love, like little plants and Lifetime movies.

Thank you for loving my cats, even though you are allergic.

Thank you for always knowing what to say back to anyone I'm talking too, and coming in to save the day when things get awkward.

Thank you for being my wing-woman, and sometimes my girlfriend when things get too creepy. (haha)

Thank you for being my (rare) gym-buddy, you motivate me, and I motivate you to go get a muffin instead.

But mostly, thank you for everything, you have made a huge impact on my life, and I really really can't say it enough how I wouldn't know where I would be without you. I love you so much and thank you for always being here.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
