A Thank-You Letter To My Sorority

As, a freshman, moving to a new town where I knew no one I decided to take a chance and go through sorority recruitment. I began this process feeling a little lost on not only who I was as a person, but on who I was aiming to become and this was frightening as I was beginning my college career. However, after pledging my sorority I never would have expected my life to change in the ways that it did and I have to thank the organization that helped me not only find my voi but also helped me find the path towards becoming a stronger individual.

To my sorority, you to me are so much more than a number of girls that meet once a week for chapter to discuss mandatory events, you are my family. Thank- you for opening your doors and giving me one hundred plus sisters to lean on, when days aren’t the sweetest, the nights spent all gathered in the living room of our beloved home laughing and sharing memories that will never be forgotten. Thank-you for showing me the importance of diversity and individuality, I cherish each and one of my sisters far and near and find it even more unique that we aren’t all the same and can learn from one and another and help each other grow.

I want to thank-you for helping my down the path of success and showing me what it means to chase my dreams. Without all my sisters pushing me to always be my best, I wouldn’t be where I am today. As a sorority, you filled and recruited some of the best girls around for which I could not thank you enough for, it led me to find not only my best friends, but who I see later standing next to me as I am wearing white. You as an organization showed me the true meaning of acceptance, love, and trust. Most people would fear that they would never truly be accepted for who they are as a person, but this organization has made me know what it truly means to be accepted as you are and to love with my whole heart.

I took a chance a time ago when walking through the doors of what I now know now as my home away from home, and I can't thank my sorority enough for taking a chance on me. At times I know we all can be a handful but when we all sit there together once a week taking a break from the seriousness of the meetings to laugh at the “hottie of the week” I know we couldn’t imagine sitting anywhere else. Thank-you for giving me memories and friendships that I know without a doubt will last me a lifetime.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
