Being the oldest of five, I always have someone to hang out with. I always have someone to look out for and rely on. As my parents have often told me [and I later came to realize] was that the best gift they have given me would be my siblings. The love for my siblings is so strong. It is a bond like no other. While I am close to my only sister, I am also close to my three brothers and couldn't be more proud of them.
Angus has always been hard-headed but I can't blame him. I am the same way. I feel like we were the children that got in trouble the most, the ones that were always going against the norm. In our similarities, I found a familiar comfort in being around him. I felt at home and I was constantly reminded of myself. He is one to not show his emotions as often and as strongly. You have to push through the layers; like an onion, the layers have to be peeled back little by little.
I will always look up to him no matter where he is in life and what he is doing. He is an inspiration to me and many others. He has lost 50 pounds in the past and I couldn't have been more proud. He is diligently working on losing weight and I believe he will lose it in time. It just takes effort and determination. I should know. I've also been struggling with my weight for years. Angus is very intelligent and has always put academics first. Growing up, we fought a lot. Now, however, we get along well for the most part. He has my back and it's nice to know that. Angus, never feel afraid to be yourself. You are wonderful.
Alex, the middle boy, has been considered my twin by many others. We work together and people think we are twins and if not, can still see how we are related. We are the two Irish kids in our family. He has a strong work ethic and I have enjoyed working football games and weddings with him. He is professional in what he does and never gives up. He has the same work ethic in his academics. He has aspirations of attending NC State when he graduates high school.
Alex has been through a lot in his 17 years. He does not let this slow him down, though. I admire his strength and his honesty in any situation. He will always do the right thing. He is wise beyond his years and is following in my Cross Country footsteps. Running is such a positive outlet in his life. I encourage him to keep running, challenging himself each day. Alexander Hercules, you are intriguing and you have a bright future ahead of yourself. Continue to keep the faith and make me proud.
Atlas, my youngest sibling and youngest brother, is encouraging as well as one that shows his love outwardly. There is not a day when I am home that he does not hug and kiss me. He loves his big sis. We have always been close. I was so proud of him when he was accepted to Wake Stem Early College at NC State. He will do great things and go far in life. Way to go, AA! Always keep up your strong work ethic and values. You can do anything you put your mind to.
Thanks for putting me first and making me feel special. I love you and our brothers more than words can explain. Thank you for appreciating all that I do for you. You're a special kid and I wish I could slow down time. You will always be a baby to me.
You boys are incredible and it is a wonderful thing to be your older sister. I have been able to watch you grow and excel. I know you will always do the right thing because you were raised right, with good morals. You are the best and thanks for looking out for your older sister and your family. Love you always.
