A Thank You Letter To My Big

Dear big,

When I first joined the sorority I didn't know you at all, now I can't imagine life without you. You have been there for me through ups and downs. You are my best friend, partner in crime, and sometimes my mom. You always seem to make me smile even when I don't feel like it. I know I don't thank you enough for everything you do as often as I should, so here you go:

Thank you for spoiling me.

I got to say my little gifts were spot on. Everything you made was perfect and I loved every gift I got.

Thank you for looking out for me.

You are always making sure I am doing alright. Whether it's classes, guys, or making sure I don't do anything I will regret, you are always there when I need you.

Thank you for never turning down Frozen.

Even if we have watched it a million times, you are always willing to watch it again and sing along to every song with me.

Thank you for giving the best advice.

Especially outfit advice. I would be walking around dressed like a hobo if it wasn't for your help.

Thank you for being my role model.

I never really had anyone I could call a role model before you. I look up to you with everything you do from school work to just being the best person you can be.

Thank you for the pizza and movie nights.

No matter what we watch we always have a great time with each other.

Thank you for always being down for pictures.

Bid day, formal, or just days we look super cute, you never complain about taking pictures.

Thank you for never judging me.

Even though I do stupid things, which is a lot, you just go with the flow

Thank you for showing me the ends and outs of our sorority.

From answering questions like what to where to chapter to helping me learn everyone's name in the chapter, you taught me everything.

Thank you for showing me what it means to be a big.

I learned everything about being an awesome big from you, and I hope my little looks up to me the way I do to you.

Thank you for always being up for adventures.

Whether it's McDonalds at midnight or coffee before class, you always seem to be up for it.

Thank you for throwing me off during big/little week.

It made reveal so much more of a surprise because I wasn't expecting it. I hate surprises but you made it worth it.

Thank you for being everything I could ask for in a big.

I could never imagine life without you. You checked off everything on my dream big list and I could never thank you enough. You are the Elsa to my Anna, I love you to the moon and back, thank you for everything.

Love,

Little

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
