A Thank You To My Younger Siblings

When I say I'll love you no matter what, I mean it.

A Thank You To My Younger Siblings
Lexi Truesdale

To my younger siblings,

Thank you guys for being you. Without you little ones, I wouldn't know what it's like to almost never want to have kids and the other 25% of me be excited to have them. Thank you for doing favors for me when I ask, always laughing at my jokes and giving me way too many hugs when I'm not in the mood. Thank you for letting me be your big sister and even though I'm away at college I still get to see you all grow up into the independent, smart, amazing people you'll become. You guys can be the biggest pains, but having you guys around makes life a bit more fun. Younger siblings, you guys are the biggest blessings in disguise.

Thank you for showing me how to be the bigger person (even when it's nearly impossible).

Younger siblings, where do I even begin on this one. You guys showed me how to not tackle someone every time I'm upset, but showed me how to walk away. You taught me that being the bigger person and not getting grounded was the way to go. Granted, it did take me awhile to learn this one, but eventually it all worked out.

Thank you for giving me a reminder to "stay young."

From jumping on me until I wake up, to making me go outside and throw the ball.. you guys know exactly how to make me feel young"er" again. I don't think I've ever seen kids have as much energy as you guys have (lucky me) especially when I'm babysitting you all.

Thank you for making me feel like a role model.

I wouldn't say I'm the best person to look up to, but I do try to be the best for you guys. You all push me to be a better person each and every day. Growing up and bettering you guys along the way is my goal.

Thank you for "listening" to my problems.

Coming home and telling mom and dad the recent gossip is usually what happens. You guys just sit there and suck it up until I'm done, even though half the time you have no idea who or what I'm talking about. Thank you for listening and making me feel like my problems feel important.

Thank you for showing me all the parenting experience I'll ever need.

Who needs kids of your own when you already basically have them? Having younger siblings as an adult is like being a parent, but with a little less stress involved. It's like having test trails to show yourself you are NOWHERE ready to have kids of your own yet. Don't get me wrong, they're so cute as babies, but the terrible two's will make you change your mind real fast.

Thank you for making me feel like a cool older sister.

I don't think anyone could ever make feel as cool as you guys do. I'll like show you guys the littlest thing and suddenly it's the best thing in the world. So yeah, thank you for reassurance.

At the end of the day, you guys are my day ones, my homies, my "little ones" and I'll never feel the love I feel for you all for anyone else. Thank you guys for being you, and thank you for giving me the privilege of being your older sister no matter how mad you guys make me.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
