Parenting isn't easy. I'm sure many people can vouch for that fact. Having two parents definitely can make the situation easier, though. Two parents most of the time means two incomes, two brains to solve problems and ultimately two bodies to help out with whatever may come up.
All families don't have both parents though, my family doesn't. I still have a mother and a father though, they are just combined into one being. My mother.
My mom provides everything for my brothers and I. Two teenagers and a 20-year-old and she supports us all by herself, and she does one hell of a job. Often times I think that she does better than if my dad were actually in the picture. My mother is the most selfless person that I have ever met in my entire life, and she has taught me a million lessons about life and the person that I am becoming and the person I am today.
I often times look at her and wonder how she does it. How does someone go through every day without any help from anyone else? How am I going to live up to be the woman that my mother is? My mother is my best friend, mentor, role model, mother, father, and so much more wrapped into one beautiful human being.
My single mother never lets us see her cry, or see her hurt or see her struggle to provide for us; not everyone is blessed with the strength to be that type of person. A person who sacrifices everything that she is to be both parents, and kick ass at it at the same time.
Thank you, mommy. I pray daily that I can be half as great as the mother that you are to my brothers and I. I really don't know how you do it, but I thank God every single day for you and everything that you are. Also, thank you for being so humble when people think we are sisters. You are the best.
I love you.
