Hey you,
I have never felt so many emotions in my 23 years on this earth than what you made me feel when I knew it was over between us. It was like throwing your grandmother's oldest and prettiest antique off the top of a 100 story building and being able to watch each piece hit the ground and shatter to millions of tiny shards.
Waking up with swollen eyes, because you cried yourself to sleep, just to wake up to the horrible nightmare you thought was a just a dream. Dragging your ass to work when you just wanted to lay in bed and watch mindless Netflix, and do nothing - because you felt nothing. Crying because you can't control your emotions, as much as you want to, you just can't get a grip. It's questioning your worth as a human being, if you’re good enough . . . if you had of done things a different way, would it still have been the same outcome?
Displaying resentment and anger to see other people's happiness, because that's supposed to be yours. Cognitively having to rationalize with the fact of just knowing that once something is so incredibly broken, it's never the same...
I write this letter to thank you. Thank you for destroying me, so I could become stronger. Throughout this process, I went through the anger, guilt, denial, depression, outrage, ect. - just to see a small glimpse of hope that I can get through it. Everyone says "Oh it takes time, time heals everything" - it sure doesn't feel like it in that moment, it just hurts like hell . . .
I want to thank you, because I can wake up and be excited and eager to take on the day, without tears. I wake up and I look in the mirror and I love the person I have become. I have my best interest in mind 100% of the time. I am able to stand on my own two feet like the strong, beautiful woman I am. I make goals for myself - I look to my future every day. I strive to be the best person I can be, for myself and the ones around me. I want to be the best version of myself, so when the right guy comes into my life, I am the best for him. Again, I thank you, for destroying me to the ground, so I could build myself back up into the person I always wanted to be.
Yours truly,
Someone you used to know
