A Thank You To My Parents For Their Undying Love
Gabriella Slucki

Dear Mom and Dad-

Words cannot describe how much the two of you mean to me. I feel so blessed to call you guys my parents. You care, work hard, love and act as the best role models. When I look at the two of you, all I think about is how much I love you and how much you do for Taylor, Libby (our family cat) and me.

You are the most hard working people I know. When you were going through hard times, you never let it show. Despite me and Taylor’s crazy antics, you handled it very well and took up the difficult challenge of providing and care for us.

Now that I am older, I understand why you worked so diligently. You wanted the best things possible for us because growing up, you did not have everything that you wanted. I have had the best life because of you, and I have always had everything that I needed because you blessed me with it.

You inspired me to work hard and always to strive to be the best I can be.

When I was younger, I looked up to you and saw how great the two of you were I decided that I wanted to be the best person I can be so that you would be proud. So, I pushed myself to do the extra work, to work hard, to put in the extra time, and to always try my best.

It was with your help and confidence in me that I made the honor roll every quarter, graduated high school with honors, received acceptance to my top college and made the Dean’s List.

You believed in me every step of the way and told me that I had it in me to do amazing things. I achieved what I did because I wanted to show you that you raised me wonderfully, and that you earned the accomplishments too.

I also work really hard because one day, I want to repay you for everything you have done for me.

Mom- because of you, I never doubt that I am loved and beautiful. You taught me what it is like to have a real friend. You always come to my rescue and set a beautiful example of strength, perseverance, and determination. I admire the way that you raised Taylor and me. You raised me so well that I cannot wait to be a mom one day, so I can show my kids the love you have showed me. If one day I can be half the woman and mom that you are, it would be an honor.

Dad- you set a perfect example of a loving father and husband. One day, I hope I find a man as great as you. You always made sure that our family had what we needed and I admire you so much for that. You are the hardest working and bravest person I know. Thank you for always pushing me to do my best in school, tennis, and life. Thank you for always giving me wonderful opportunities to do things and for making sure Taylor and I were always happy. Also, thanks for making me a Philly fan J.

Mom and dad- you gave me the best life possible and I will forever be grateful for you. You are the best people in my life. I thank God every day that I have you as parents. I think that the most important thing that the two of you taught me was what true love is. I have never loved anything in my life like the way I love the two of you. Because of you, I know what it feels like to be loved for all my flaws and imperfections. You reassure me of my beauty and my ability to do great things.

Because of all the love you show me, I know that you will always care for me and stay in my life every step of the way. You have given me the world and moved mountains to make sure I can achieve my dreams.Thank you for encouraging me to go to college and put me one step closer to my dreams. But most of all, thanks for always being there for me and loving me with all your hearts.

I love the two of you more than you will ever know.

Love,

Gabriella ( Eurr-at or Stink) Slucki

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
