Dear Social Media,

You are one of my best friends. Although it may be a love/hate relationship, I love having your company. You have taught me a lot about life and don't get enough credit for it. I want to thank you for letting me use my freedom of expression.

Thank you for introducing me into this social world. Thank you for making it easier for me to see what my family and friends are up to. Thank you for letting me see what people with different political/religious views think about. Thank you for sharing delicious food tutorials and adorable dog videos. Thank you for reminding me how embarrassing my statuses were a couple years ago. Thank you for allowing me to network and make connections. Thank you for showing me how to build a public image on the internet. Thank you for being there when I need to make a huge announcement. Thank you for allowing me to share these Odyssey articles.

Thank you for letting me use the right side of my brain more often. Thank you for giving me the chance to show an artistic side of myself. Thank you for showing me pretty pictures. Thank you for allowing me to see what my friends, family, celebrities and strangers are doing. Thank you for being there when my friends or I am feeling confident in ourselves. Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
