A Thank You Note to Odyssey

Through my writings, I learned a lot about who I was and who I wanted to become, so you thank you.

Dear Odyssey,

Just over a year and a half ago we began our journey together. I decided to write for you. So for each week for a year and a half, you became my creative outlet for life.

I learned a lot about who I was through my writings. Picking a topic each week and writing was close to being therapeutic for me. I could share my thoughts on school, sports and society, on grief and racism. Whether I was simply musing about small events that went on throughout my week, or sharing some profound insight, you shared my thoughts with the world.

And the world often responded. I received so much positive encouragement from people who read my articles. So many friends and family members have discussed with me how touched they were reading them. I am so glad that I was able to make a difference, even if it was small and only 500 words a week. I am grateful that I was able to provide people a quick laugh or a smile. As someone who does not have a large social media presence, writing for you gave my followers insight into my life as I shared my weekly posts from you.

You also helped me develop my voice. A year and a half ago, I began writing articles, but was self-conscious in what I chose as my topics and how I was writing my articles. I was worried about offending people, or someone not liking my writing. Though every week, I gained confidence in my abilities. I have found my voice and my style. I take pride in what I write and what I believe. My strength and voice as a writer has dramatically improved this last year and a half, and you are to thank for that.

Unfortunately, this will be my last article with you. Though as I move forward in life, I will always carry my articles with me. I truly appreciate all the opportunities you have given me. Interestingly enough, you are one of the first things possible employers ask about from my resume. People always want to know what it was like to write for you. They are intrigued and want to hear about what I have written. And I am proud of what I have done and accomplished through you.

So a closing note to your other writers: enjoy the journey of being a writer. Never be afraid to talk about what you want. People do want to hear you. What you have to say is important. So speak loudly, clearly and strongly. Go out and make your mark on the world.

Thank you,

Your Writer

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
