Dear Josh,
Let me start off by saying I am aware that it is unforeseen for me to be writing an article to you. With that being said, I did not imagine I would be seeing my older sister become engaged before I turn 19 years old, so I suppose we are even.
Even though this may seem like an odd thing for me to be doing, I’m going to do it anyway. I have many things I would like to thank you for.
Beginning, I’d like to thank you for putting up with three annoying younger siblings. The three of us separately are a handful. Put us all together and things soon turn messy. It takes a whole lot of patience to put up with us, and yet, you seemingly truly enjoy spending time with us.
Thank you for dealing with our family arguments. You’ve definitely seen your fair share of Hoover family fights, and they’re never pretty, either. I am not entirely sure how you deal with so many of them, but you do, and that’s great.
Thank you for helping out whenever you can. Some people (myself, admittedly) may say that you are, well, “whipped”. While this may be only a tad bit true, I believe it is moreover simply your character for you to be the one to jump when anyone needs help, even if it is just clearing the dinner table.
Thank you for having super cool sisters. While you may not have had anything to do with this directly, it is still impressive that the siblings from both sides of the relationship get along as well as we all do. The same goes for your entire family, as well.
Thank you for sticking around. Admittedly, you are the longest relationship she has had. But, that is a good thing! And now, you even get to be her last.
Thank you for getting along with our father. Let’s face it, he’s a pain in the ass sometimes (sorry, dad). Somehow, you manage to get along with him and probably more than I do. You truly deserve a medal for this one.
Thank you for making my mom happy. I don’t think I’ve seen my mom love any of my sister’s previous boyfriends as much as she loves you. I know she knows that her daughter is making the right choice in choosing you, and this certainly means the world to her. You mean as much to her as you do to my sister herself.
Lastly, thank you for loving my sister. She’s obnoxious and bratty, and frankly, she’s quite the pain in the ass herself. And yet, I love her very much, and you do, too.
Well, that's all I have to say for now. I hope this wasn't too painful to read. Now, if I remember correctly, my mom has already assigned you two strikes. Try not to earn yourself a third.
Thank you for always being there for us.
Signed,
Your future brother-in-law
P.S. Just remember, if you break her heart, we know where you live.
