To My Past Teachers,
I have decided that I, myself want to pursue the career path of being a teacher. A lot of people when they hear that ask me why, as the money is not great, or why, as I'll come across some rude children and parents, and why, because "there are so many more better jobs." For me, the decision was quite easy, and that is because of you, each and everyone of you, the teachers who have inspired me.
Most normal kids don't enjoy waking up at the crack of dawn for school, nor do they look forward to sitting in a gloomy classroom all day being bored to tears by endless amounts of work, and to be honest neither did I, but you always made it seem more bearable. You taught me not only the basic principles of an equation, or how to write a full sentence, but how to be a kind, forgiving person and full of patience. You were always there for me and other students who needed more out of their teacher, whether it was extra help academically or extra guidance emotionally. You always made the toughest situations look easy, and found the bright side in the darkest times. You made school a safe haven for me and I'm sure for many other students who truly needed it.
As a result of teachers like you, you made school somewhere that I always wanted to be. I woke up each morning looking forward to sitting in a classroom for my whole day with you. That is why I want to be a teacher and inspire children like you inspired me. I want to be able to let each student know that they have a friend inside of the teacher that they spend all day with; someone who will guide them through unbearable situations, support the decisions that they make and make them feel comfortable. It was you who showed me that there is so much more to being a teacher than grading tests and giving homework. It's about being there for every student and adapting to their specific needs.
So this letter is a special thank you to all of you special teachers throughout my life, who have not only helped and guided me, but also have genuinely inspired me to become a teacher. I hope that someday down the road when I am standing in the front of a classroom looking at numerous little faces that I can amount to being half as amazing as you all were, and inspire each one of them.
Sincerely,
An Inspired and Thankful Student.
