A Thank You Letter To The People Who Were There For Me

We all go through tough times sometimes. And sometimes, we go through REALLY tough times. You know, the times that makes you feel so broken and empty inside, the kind of feeling you can’t shake no matter how hard you’ve tried. It’s in times like these when we reach out to those around us in search of guidance and support. This is a much-needed thank you letter to those people who took the time to listen and care.

Friend,

Thank you. I will never be able to say this enough: Thank you. From the bottom of my heart, I appreciate each and every little thing you have done for me more than you know. Thank you for always answering when I call at 2 a.m. because I feel lost and just need someone to talk to. Thank you for helping me to realize it’s okay to ask for help and that I don’t have to go through things on my own. Thank you for never sugar coating anything and always giving it to me straight, and thank you for always keeping my feelings in mind when you do. Thank you for never judging me, no matter how shocked you are at what I tell you. Thank you for keeping my secrets and never telling a soul. Thank you for just listening when that’s all I need, and giving advice when you know I need it. Thank you for never giving up on me and always helping me to see the light at the end of the tunnel. Thank you.

I know it must’ve gotten hard at times. There were most definitely times when I kept coming to you about the same thing over and over again, never listening to the advice you had previously given me, but you never turned me away or told me to just get over it. You listened, just as intently as you had before, and preceded to give me the same advice again, hoping this time I’d actually take it, but never forcing it upon me. I know it also probably wasn’t easy to see me wallow in the dark place I was in, I wasn’t the person you were used to and I bet it was unsettling to watch, but you never gave up on me.

I can’t even begin to describe to you how comforting it is to know that I have someone like you. There are very few people who would stick around for as long as you have and I feel so very blessed to have you. You believed in me when others didn’t, when I didn’t even believe in myself, and that has made all the difference.

We all get in a funk sometimes and we have to go through the hard stuff in order to get to the good. Thank you for holding my hand as I walked across that bridge from the bad to the good. Because of you I am the person I am today, and I want you to know that I am so very proud of that person.

Finally, I want you to know that I will always be there for you too. Any day, any time, I am always here. You’re never alone when you are going through something, and just like you were there for me, I’ll be there for you.

Thank you,

New and Improved, Grateful Friend

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
