Dear Mom,
I know it is not Mother’s Day anymore, but that does not mean I am not thankful to have someone as amazing as you in my life. There are so many things you do for me that I take for granted and I know you go under-appreciated for what you do a lot. And that is why although it is no longer Mother’s Day, you still deserve the biggest thank you possible.
Thank you for being my number one fan. I know it must have been nearly impossible to make it to all of my games and meets, but you somehow still did. Sometimes you even showed up with personalized signs that you knew would embarrass me. And you sat there through every goal and every throw and every fall I took. And when I did fall you were running across the ice rink to be by my side making sure I was OK. So thank you for being my fan club and my rescue team all in one.
Thank you for driving me around everywhere. I know it must have been a pain when I missed the bus in the mornings and you had to drive me to school. And I know you did not always enjoy chauffeuring me to the movies or to a friend's house, especially since I never had any idea when I would need to be picked up after. But I know when I got my license there was a little part of you that would miss all of our car rides, even if you did joke around about how happy you were to not have to drive me everywhere anymore. So thank you for wasting a lot of gas to get me everywhere I needed to be.
Thank you for all your home cooked meals. I realized how much I missed them when I got to college and after a week of fast food and dining hall swipes, all I wanted was my personal chef back. I know I always make jokes about your cooking and how you make the same things all the time and I get sick of it, but at the end of the day no one is going to make me food other than you. No one is going to make me soup and grilled cheese when I am sick, or bring me down coffee every morning to wake me up. So thank you for being an amazing personal chef.
Thank you for your endless support. I know it must get hard with a child as stubborn as me, but you somehow manage to get over it and continue to help me through everything. Whether it be my seventh-grade history project or when I am having a mental breakdown while trying to figure out where to apply for college, you supported me. Although you call me lazy sometimes, you are always there to push me to do the best I can. Even when I wanted to quit my favorite sport every day because of a lousy coach, you reminded me daily that I was an amazing athlete no matter what anyone said and that I deserved the best. So thank you for being the best support system I could have asked for. You’re a motivational speaker and a therapist all wrapped into one.
There are a million other things to say thank you for but most important of all, thank you for just being there for me. I know I can be difficult at times, but you always try to find a way to help me. You have guided me through so much, and you have helped me with things I could not handle. You are the world's best mom in my eyes, and I definitely do not say that enough to you. So thank you for every single thing that you do because I would not be able to do anything without you.
