You don't know me. You don't know what I've been through. But you do know my name, my resume, my major and career goals. You didn't know that my alternative plan was to stay home or join the military. Although, you did know that you had the financial stability to bless numerous young adults with a proper college education, so you did it. You did. You gave me a chance to make something of myself. Without knowing me, you invested your money into my education. As everyone knows, college is not cheap. And you so selflessly paid for mine; all of it. Because of you, I have the privilege of being ahead of the game. I will graduate debt-free.
Thank you for investing in me, when you could've spent that money on other things. You had no idea whether or not investing in my education would be worth it. You didn't know if I was going to fail out or waste away the money I am being blessed with. But you took that chance and gave me one.
Your act of kindness has given multiple people a second chance at life. The chance to go somewhere, to do something with themselves. And to even one day give back in the same ways we were given. You literally put food in our mouths and a roof over our head. Without you, I would be home rather than having a true college experience. You continuously give me more than just money. You give me a community of people who genuinely care about my success. You give me a list of guidelines to follow and goals to achieve that motivates me each and everyday.
Without this scholarship, I would not value and appreciate my education in the ways that I do. I would be struggling to make ends meet while trying to focus on my grades. Because of you I am able to focus solely on my education and even work on building my resume. You allow me to focus on me and become the best adult possible.
When I succeed in life because of what you continue to do, I would like to give back in a similar way. I would like to be able to provide someone with an education that they would otherwise not be able to afford. I would like to be that second chance for someone.
So, thank you for all that you do. For believing in me, trusting me and investing in me when you didn't know much about me. Thank you for being the answer to a lot of students' problems. And thank you for working hard to provide me and hundreds of other students with a paid education. This world would be a much better place if everyone had the kind of selflessness that you are filled with. Thank you for being you.
