Dear Mom,
I’m not sure how you do the work of two people, but you do, and you do an amazing job. You showed me that being a single parent isn’t easy, but it’s not impossible. Thank you for everything you have done these past twenty years.
Thank you for taking on a job that is usually done by two people. You are both parents in one and you work harder than anyone I know. You had to raise me on your own and I know that it was not always easy. You dealt with the terrible two’s and dramatic teen years, and you survived. It isn’t easy raising a child with only one income, especially when you give them so many amazing opportunities like traveling and going to college. But you did it all on your own.
Thank you for making sacrifices for me. You had to give up a lot to raise me on your own, especially your time. You were the one who had to run around and get me to my practices, appointments, play dates and everything in between. You were at every soccer game, tennis match, concert, play, graduation and anything else that I had going on. You were always my number one fan, and still are.
Thank you for being my best friend. It has always been just the two of us, and at times that was hard, but I am so thankful that you are one of my best friends. We’ve definitely had our ups and downs, but at the end of the day, you’re the first person I go to. I know I can always count on you. It was a big change when I moved to college, but you’re always just a phone call away. Thank you for always being by my side.
Thank you for being my role model. You are such an amazing and strong person. You showed me what it feels like to be loved. I hope that I can grow up to be half the person you are.
I don’t say thank you enough and I could go on forever about just how grateful I am to have you as a mom, but I’ll spare you the novel. I love you, Mom.
Love,
Your Daughter
