A low maintenance friend: Someone who you can go a while without seeing, but when you're together again it’s like you were never apart.
As you get older you realize how much you change as a person, therefore, because of that your friends will change too. As you grow up and go your separate ways, it’s harder to stay in touch with everyone that you were once very close with. School, jobs, relationships, and just life in general relocate people all over.
This goes out to those friends who you haven’t seen in a while because you are both busy living your own lives, but when you’re together it’s just like old times; AKA the low maintenance friend. These friends allow you to realize what true friendship is, and that you don't have to physically be with someone to be there for them.
You know you have a low maintenance friend when:
You can call each other out of the blue and talk for hours about anything and nothing, you also know for sure at one point in the conversation you will be laughing your asses off.
When you get together, even if you haven’t seen each other in over a year, you pick up right where you left off. You don’t need to be in each other’s presence constantly to know you’ll always be there for each other no matter what.
Whenever you’re going through anything you can always give them a call and know they will genuinely be there for you. Whether you need someone to vent to, get advice from, or just someone to talk to, you can count on them to be listening.
So to all my low maintenance friends, I thank you.
Thank you for being you, thank you for always being there for me, thank you for being my go-to, and lastly thank you for being more like family than just a friend. Knowing I always have a friend in you is a very reassuring thought.
